Absolute retard here who's still trying to learn slowly but surely random things about finance, owning land, etc. Do people buy these massive properties to live in them, to make an investment (like renting it out if it's even possible or selling it later) , to brag out or for whatever other weird reason?

Is living in such a big space even practical?

I used to work for Sotheby's Real Estate (look it up). It's mostly Chinese and overseas money laundering but that goes for 99% of massive luxury purchases like art and yachts.

I will, thanks anon.
It's a shame because some look dreamlike to live with 20 people or more. I come from a huge family and I think it would be nice to see these spaces filled to the brim with people
