When you understand the Russians are pivoting towards the Indians to contain the Chinese and everything the Chinese have are knockoffs they stole from countries like Russia and the USA (and Russia itself is known for being USA knockoffs, so China is a double knockoff) you understand that Russia will always be closer to a superpower than china despite China having 4 times the GDP of the Eurasian Union.

China needs there to be stronger nations to exist, because they need to copy from them.

Also China will be 35% over 65 in just 30 years, up from 15% now, so they're pretty fucked by their massive boomer population.

Because GDP is a fucking meme and tells us nothing of a country's actual production. China and the USA have jewy stock calculations that make their gdp much larger than russia's, the actual production and resource usage is likely similar.
