No idea bro. I just try my best to buy stuff on sale and I never eat out outside of special occasions. It's probably more cost-effective to buy in bulk from Costco or something but I don't drive atm and I really don't want to deal with stampedes of people especially during COVID. But I would wager that buying in bulk and making huge portions of stuff at a time from scratch is the best way to go about saving money. Just too lazy to get all the logistics sorted out honestly. Food runs me about $200 a month here in a metropolitan area just for myself , though I don't eat a lot though. Probably could cut it down even more with the aforementioned idea.

Look into ethnic restaurant suppliers and Cash and Carry stores. I get most of my canned milk, sugar, grains, and cleaning supplies there. Cash and Carry shops vary since they either cater to convience stores and food stalls. Costco would be a better option if you want to pay for a membership. But unfortunately, the same problem you mentioned is happening too no thanks to people funnelling into Costco now that lockdowns are prolonged and constant.

If nothing works, you can line up at the food bank like everyone else or learn how to Fast.
