Welcome to XMR General, dedicated to the discussion of the world's leading privacy-coin!
Because Monero is secure, low-fee, and borderless, people can easily send money despite corrupt and broken governments or banks. This provides economic empowerment of individuals in oppressive countries or depressed economies.
Private financial history protects consumers and companies from price manipulation, supply chain exploitation, economic discrimination, or the like. Monero is the only cryptocurrency that has the features to serve as completely fungible, decentralized, electronic cash.

If you're new, feel free to ask any questions you like and a Monero Chad will be with you shortly.

Honest question - should I hold both a stack of Monero and Zcash? I am confident in Monero but I've also heard rumblings about the elites getting behind Zcash and I look at the ATHs and it seems wise to hold both but....I can also see Zcash just lagging behind into disuse while Monero triumphs and I'd be better off selling all my Zcash and buying more Monero. I'm genuinely unsure what to do here and would greatly appreciate input that isn't just purely pro Monero because you're preaching to the choir here

This new regulation from the US govt and other G7 governments, among many reasons, is about creating a comprehensive data set to determine who owns which BTCs. After enough data is collected the G7 will be able to declare certain UTXOs tainted due to their use by a sanctioned nation like Iran. I think countries and people using BTC to avoid sanctions will be forced to move to XMR. I also think that miners will be legally forced to exclude tainted UTXOs from blocks. No, banning it just makes it harder for them while advertising their weakness. Having it available on exchanges which report their deposits and withdrawals gives them information about which inputs to a given ring are decoys, as well as who's using it at all.
They didn't ban Tor, they just spread FUD suggesting it's compromised while aggressively collecting as much metadata as they can.

the anon that made this posts in these generals sometimes. Tbh I think we might reach the top eoy 2021, the last cycle from 1.2k to 20k took about a year. I expect xmr to hit ~20k at the top. 130 seems in the cards although the ratio seems to be near support. I expect btc to correct soon since bulls are way too cocky and this type of move is never sustainable. A 20%-30% dip would put btc around 16k-18k, so .006 would be ~100. But I doubt well go that low because xmr tends to hold or gain sats while btc and the rest of the market dumps.
