That extension going through is good. It means both sides are motivated to try to get something passed this weekend. If there was enough resistance sufficient to force a government shutdown, it's unlikely the extension would have happened.

The main sticky points remaining are Senator Toomey's thing about Fed lending, and the duration of funding for unemployment benefits. Both are kind of minor relative to the problem issues that have already reached agreement. I think Toomey will get bullied in to retracting his proposal.

So if it takes 12 people working extended hour weeks to manage 20 positions, I would try to limit the number of positions you take as much as possible - the simpler the better

Diversification / risk reduction is great, but not good if you're diversifying just to diversify
It also depends on how large your portfolio is, what your risk tolerance is, and how old you are
