Most of gains in large indices over the past decade were from Facebook, Google, Netflix, Amazon, Microsoft, and Apple which is also responsible for the NASDAQ finally overtaking the SP500 for returns.
That line of thinking would actually mean you should just keep going for Facebook, Google, etc. and ignore the "dead weight" of the rest of NASDAQ. Smaller companies usually have more space to grow than large ones but if you think those are endgames than sure.
Stocks are typically only part of the average joe's portfolio and they want returns with minimal worry about sector rotations or hard dips. This is why index funds that track the SP500 or VTSAX are popular. Sure, you aren't maximizing returns but you are limiting risk and not having to hope that what was true the past decade will continue into the next.

TSM is at the top of the game. They produce the chips for AAPL, AMD, NVDA, etc who just make the chip designs
They're the biggest foundry for bleeding edge chips. Samsung is next (e.g. NVDA and QCOM rely on Samsung for chips too) but their yields are shit and TSM's dominance is becoming more and more obvious especially when their yields on the 5nm was somehow better than their 7nm. Samsung afaik has not achieved volume production on their own 5nm yet (and transistor densities on those are lower than TSM's so they're weaker than TSM's 5nm). Intel is out of the game as hey're years behind since they haven't even moved on to EUVL equipment to produce the chips like TSM and Samsung did. Chinese semiconductor companies like SMICY (and some other one which has a liquidity crisis) are cucked out of western semiconductor tools because of both US and TSM interference. US cucked SMIC out of some semiconductor tools, TSM cucked SMIC by telling ASML not to set up EUVL equipment for them

only problem is the geopolitics risk between US-China. Otherwise demand is endless for TSM, personally i was convinced after they lost Huawei as a customer (when US told them they can't sell to Huawei anymore) but instantly filled up that vacant capacity anyways

2) Bitcoin is not even overpriced. It's merely return to 2018 highs which is fine given it's increasing scarcity and halvening.

Bitcoin is a deflationary currency that no one will want to spend as the supply diminishes. It would be like trying to pay for a dinner out with a Michaelangelo painting.
You are basically trading dollars to put your name on a public ledger.
>"That is just boomer talk"
There are other cryptos that attempt to deal with many of btc's very problems. I don't have skin in that game because I think it becomes a technological space prone to newcomers and frequent disruption especially if the central banks go nuclear on private crypto to make space for their digital currencies.
It's a speculative space that seems correlated with the market. I will pass for now.

NVDA relies on Samsung for part of their products, but Samsung isn't exactly doing well
for example
>https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/05/samsung-lost-qualcomm-5nm-orders-tsmc/
because just remember that yields are the most important thing here. Intel has had so many problems with that. If your yields are shit, you can't fulfill enough orders, you waste so many wafers since there are too many imperfections on the wafer
Meanwhile TSM is practically perfect that whole-wafer chips (more of a dickwaving move rather than actual practicality though) are reasonable with their foundries

It's not a meme stock of course, it's a boomer bluechip with a mix of good growth and decent dividends. Something you can buy and just forget about unless China does something crazy with Taiwan, but even then I wouldn't be worried about that since China obviously wants to keep Taiwan's industry intact ("peaceful" assimilation should be their goal probably) and TSM is multinational at this point with many foreign shareholders so it will stay private like any other corporation in China

TSM is amazingly strong moving forward and is being slept on by all but the most switched on investors.

AMD and NVDA are both fabless but they're hardly safer. It's easy to think that AMD and NVDA being fabless means they probably have infinite growth, but they'll eventually be bottlenecked by TSM's production and the competition

NVDA is already valued at a ridiculous 25x of revenues even though its growth is slower than AMD. I'd only touch AMD, but I'd keep a close eye on INTC since they could potentially stop their market share bleed if they outsource to TSM (not 100% confirmed afaik)

I don't really understand the concern on running costs on TSM, they're well established and even have a sustainable dividend. Their profit margins are only getting better with improved yields and the increased competition for their capacity

if you're just buying established bluechips just sell covered calls, who cares if you're buying at ATH. Or keep it as cash and write cash-covered puts for them
even monthlies with a delta of like 0.15 that will never get assigned (99% of the time) will reduce your cost basis by 1% monthly, if you're more aggressive with higher delta and rolling over calls with weeklies, you could probably chop off 3% off your cost basis every month

established shit like Microsoft will just crab and consolidate instead of crashing since it's Microsoft, you can make money even if something is crabbing

i'll give you an example

Say you bought 100 shares of AAPL right now even though you're scared that it's creeping towards all-time-highs. You can sell covered calls at the $131 strike or something that expire next Friday and get paid $100 for it (since the premium is around $1/share).
The person you sold your call to has the right to buy your 100 shares of AAPL at the cost of $131/share (which you bought for $127) by next Friday.

So if AAPL is only $130 by next Friday, the call you sold just expires worthless while you keep the $100 for yourself (essentially making it seem like you bought AAPL at $126 instead of $127).
If it hits right at $131.10, you end up selling AAPL at a profit at $131 + the $100 you got earlier so you're still better off even though you missed out on that 10 cents of profit.
If it hits above $132, oops, but hey gains are still gains

I have no idea if $131 strike is actually a good idea to sell for AAPL weeklies, i didn't check the specifics, but it's just an example. You can pick higher strikes (lower delta) to reduce your chances of getting assigned. Plus some other details and tricks to minmax it, just google it
Someone will buy your crazy strikes as a hedge anyways for their own options selling (probably on margin)

>AMD and NVDA are both fabless but they're hardly safer
There's no serious outside competition for either company now. This is also about share performance, something AMD and NVDA historically outperform TSM in
>NVDA is already valued at a ridiculous 25x of revenues
I see that as a positive sign, not a negative one. The ARM acquisition, if approved, will also be a boon for the company.
>its growth is slower than AMD
NVDA has better YTD share growth, even if it has been crabbing for months now
>but I'd keep a close eye on INTC since they could potentially stop their market share bleed if they outsource to TSM
INTC isn't even capable of designing a 7nm chip. They'll become progressively irrelevant for the foreseeable future
