Point understood.

This isn't news. The very reason that Cohen used the substantial growth in gaming revenue and mentioned a transition to mobile was necessary is because Cohen knows that most of that growth in gaming was from mobile.

So he's not being disingenuous lol....he's literally just pointing out where GME failed to capture the growth by saying two things a) GME needs to pivot to mobile and b) GME has failed to capture the increases in gaming revenue

You might be bullish but you basically thinking Cohen is a retard who doesn't know that most growth WAS mobile gaming sounds like you're overbearish.

The reason revenue sharing makes sense for the big console makers is that it expands the total addressable market. Sure, you can buy a PS5 online, but Tyrone can't spend his drug cash online. Tyrone wants to pay cash. Without Gamestop, Sony loses Tyrone as a customer, and he either steals a PS5 or buys one on Ebay. This lowers the customer acquisition cost for Sony, which is awesome for them. Gamestop is also very good at selling bundles, which are higher margin for everyone involved.

How does that translate to phone apps, other than selling App Store gift cards or whatever?

Appreciate the RC quote but don't understand your full rejection of this idea. Consider the following idea I just pulled out of my ass: Switch Phone.
More realistically there's still room for browser based mobile games that break the monopoly. Something like that could help MSFT break into mobile gaming which they failed to do anything with ever since the idea of integrating xbox with Windows Phone died.
When you see an $85 billion duopoly it screams opportunity for disruption.

How many companies is tough, I've recently liquidated a few positions to make my portfolio less diversified and reinvested into the others. Now I have around £10k portfolio with 10 companies, but not evenly split between them. More than 10 feels like too many

AMD, TSM, WM, RSG, WMT all solid picks.

If it was me I'd also want some kind of energy play (like renewables or oil, I know you have LIT), a Telco since they're comfy and secure/reliable, and maybe some financial, but obviously be careful with banks since we're at zero bound interest rates. If you know an economic recovery is about to start I think domestic-focused banks are a good value play possibly. But less solid than the previously mentioned picks. I'm considering buying into something like BK. There's also V/MA for comfy finance

DIS also decent choice although seems to have already grown a lot but feels like they're taking over the entertainment world so probably still good to go

correct, that's why I only rode gold for the speculative pumps earlier this year

I want a hedge against the USD that goes up forever and is also a volatile meme. Stability is for retirees. Bitcoin sounds nice.

I tried to get my father to help me set up bitcoin mining in 2012 when I was 16 but he told me to fuck off so I got discouraged, and then hated both him and crypto for like a decade when it popped because I missed out

I don't think we go further than a Taiwan Strait crisis, and that's the sort of thing the USN can effectively win. An actual full scale shooting war for the island would either lead to nuclear war or a massive Pacific Campaign like we had against the Nips. Don't bet against the US Navy. When GME plays out and I have the funds avaliable I'm going balls deep into defense. HII looks interesting because of the aforementioned naval war, Raytheon makes the Standard missiles used by all VLS equipped Navy ships. Kratos is competing for Skyborg.

if you have more than 10 picks as a retail trader, can you really say you're keeping up with the news and developments on each ticker?
if you're not keeping up with the news, it's really no better than playing roulette

why not just focus all your cash into 2-3 picks you're actually confident about, put the rest of your shit in an index fund if you want to protect wealth
that way if you did your DD right and the pick moons, you're actually making money
otherwise, +100% on a single ticker becomes really underwhelming if it's only 5% of your portfolio

let's face it, most people here are 4- to 5-figures, there's no point wasting so much effort looking over that many tickers

RYCEY - Ok I've got it figured out the differences between this ticker and the other one. This one is basically you buying shares from a 3rd party in the U.S who got them from R.R. The other is a straight you buying R.R shares but your having to deal with the whole foreign currency/holding tax deal. No mater which one, you still get the same rights (voting) and you still own a slice of the whole company. From what I understand during tax time any straight out foreign holdings you got they tend to stick it to you more due to both the U.S and the stock's home country getting a bite of your money.
