How many companies is tough, I've recently liquidated a few positions to make my portfolio less diversified and reinvested into the others. Now I have around £10k portfolio with 10 companies, but not evenly split between them. More than 10 feels like too many

AMD, TSM, WM, RSG, WMT all solid picks.

If it was me I'd also want some kind of energy play (like renewables or oil, I know you have LIT), a Telco since they're comfy and secure/reliable, and maybe some financial, but obviously be careful with banks since we're at zero bound interest rates. If you know an economic recovery is about to start I think domestic-focused banks are a good value play possibly. But less solid than the previously mentioned picks. The other is a straight you buying R.R shares but your having to deal with the whole foreign currency/holding tax deal.
