There is a thing called a 'stock exchange', e.g. the NYSE which contains a thing called the 'order book' which has all the bids and offers for a security.

Because your brokerage knows you are a retard, they don't actually send your order directly to the exchange. They sell your order to a firm like Citadel which runs a separate internal exchange called a dark pool. Legally citadel has to fill your order at the best price on the exchange but they can do various shenanigans to extract a few shekels from your order.

If you send in a limit order Citadel can't really fuck you except in the fill order for the position, which is unlikely to matter.

If you have to ask this question though you are definitely too retarded to trade stocks.

I wasn't sure what level of idiot I was dealing with here and was trying to explain how an order actually gets filled.

The answer is that it depends on which orders are getting filled by the dark pool, but since they have to honor the best price at the time on the exchange where the security is traded, it's basically (as far as pricing goes) as if everything were trading on the same exchange regardless of whether you are making an order through your broker, directly through the exchange, etc.

>Crash comes when P/E ratios are high and everyone is trying to buy in
>at the same time, crashes come when least expected
>right not the market is going up up up but people also seem to think a crash is imminent

So does this mean a crash is still a ways away? If people think a crash is imminent, then there's still money that isn't going into the market. Maybe the money printer can still keep the economy propped up for a few months. If there's a correction, it may be when the reopening turns out to be underwhelming. Right now we're trading on the expectation of more money when we re-open.

Thoughts?

I don't think the economy is headed for good times in 2021, and the Fed seems to be taking the stance that it won't be until 2024.
I just think 2020 finally severed the connection between the market and the economy. It's the only place to chase ROI.

>arguments for why my stock should go up
It's incredible how people make the same mistake over and over again. They find reasons why a stock should go up, and when it fails to go up they think it going up is now overdue because the reasons for it to go up remain. Instead of the reality of the stock not going up informing their perception of the stock's odds of going up they think the market is wrong. You never learn and keep using arguments such as:

>low valuation relative to revenues
It's true for most of the shittiest stocks that are tanking. It's the successful stocks that tend to be """overvalued""", if your stock has a low valuation maybe it's because everybody else is shit.

Look at GME since early october. No real growth, just crabbing. If you can't find a better stock with better growth to invest into you're a helpless retard. Obsessing over GME is absolutely unwarranted, and thinking it will go significantly higher because you have reasons is dumb. You'll be lucky if the overall growth is 15% in one month (excluding the crabbing that will probably make it temporarily go higher), which isn't impressive.
