If someone I know would ask this I would advice them to put monthly 1k into an index fund (for example S&P500. That way you get slowly exposure to the stock market. Lets say the stock market crashes within a year 50% you would only lost 6k. If you want to go full boomer mode put 800 dollars into the stock market monthly, 100 dollars in bonds and 100 in gold or silver.
