bitcoin is NOT a store of value.

The medium of exchange is the tool that facilitates the indirect exchange system, which we created as a solution to the inefficient barter system.

Instead of having to 'sell' the good that you dont want directly for the good you do want to 'buy' (barter), you can now 'sell' the good for another good(the medium of exchange), and then 'buy' the goods and services you want with the medium of exchange.

For this to work, the medium of exchange(money) must be a useful commodity that can retain consistent tangible value and utility, and therefore always have demand from others who are in turn looking to exchange their goods for said commodity (now the means of exchange). One of the most important benifits of this is that the medium of exchange can now act as a 'store of value', where 'purchasing power' can be stored in a commodity that can reliably be predicted to retain value over time.

Many commodities have been used as the means of exchange throughout history, but the free market has determined Gold and Silver suit our purposes for a means of exchange best.

Crypto currency fails as a means of exchange as it is not a commodity with any utility in and of itself, therefore cannot be a store of value. Despite its advantages over commodities in a digital sense, it is still expensive, slow, and difficult to use(relative to other mediums)

I must point out the despite the beliefs of the crypto investing public, cryptocurrency is still plagued with the primary problem that baseless Fiat money has - and that is not infinite supply cap, but the simple fact that it has no tangible, inherent value in and of itself.

They will argue that its inherent value is that it's a 'superior means of exchange to anything else', but this is folly, and rooted in economic ignorance. It is no surprise, considering for the past 100 years+ the general public has been kept totally ignorant of even the most basic economics i am describing here.

Cryptocurrency certainly is superior to Fiat in its qualities, the most obvious being a limited/predictable supply. But unfortunately this is not enough, and ultimately time will prove it to not be adequate when capital flight flees from crypto and into a genuine store of value, precious metals.

Impact is already a producer with big upside while Vangold potential is huge. I also love the fact that VGLD give you update nearly every 2 weeks, their communication is top notch. Missed KS windows entry, kind of sad but that's how it is, waiting for next month to buy. If you are going to buy something slabbed then at least get an early date sov like the 1822 or those shield sovs which are actually collectable because that are over 150 years old.

If you want to dig into this line of thought, I suggest reading this -
https://allenfarrington.medium.com/wittgensteins-money-7cac8d0635cf

>Bitcoin can’t be a store of value because it has no intrinsic value. It can’t be a unit of account because it is too volatile. It can’t be a medium of exchange because it is not widely used to price goods and services. These are the three properties of money. Therefore, Bitcoin can’t be money. But Bitcoin has no other basis for being valued, therefore it is valueless. QED.
>I call this argument, semantics therefore reality. What could possibly falsify this? It is, at root, a claim about the material world; about what will, or in this case won’t, happen in real life. And yet it looks rather like it relies entirely on the meanings of words...

It does sell for a premium, I'm not denying it. Still a waste as we both know those bidders are amateurs for paying for a bullion coin with no limited mintage. You have to account for the fact that someone (because it's for your son) in 20 years will buy it for a similar premium. Also, how the hell do you even store 10 oz in slabbed coins? That must take up half a room.

Also it is much cheaper in premiums compared to pre33, I can pick them up for 2-3%.
Other honorable picks are 20 Reichsmark, pre Elisabeth Sovereigns, swiss Helvetia and Vreneli, russian empire gold coins and soviet chervonetz Чepвoнeц.

Of the ones I know:
DV is a good, relatively safe exploration play with property in a good area. A lot of potential upside.
CCW I had before but sold due to greener pastures elsewhere... They've been very quiet on the news front but have great potential if they manage to define their deposit. That said, they also might not find anything. Risky speculative pick.
Vangold is a nice pick which I actually want to get into some time. There's no telling how much gold and silver they're going to find in that old mine and they've just scratched the surface. Great potential, great pick.
Klondike Silver... Haven't done any DD yet but they seem like a risky asset, plus according to Pan Man they drew the short end of the stick when it comes to getting workforce. They're late and cannot explore their property well enough thanks to that. However, they might have a big deposit just sitting there.

Haven't done any DD on any of the other ones yet. Your folio seems a little bit too focused on silver if you ask me, nice to see uranium and some base metals exposure though. I would get into gold miners more if I were you and make sure you get into relatively risk-free companies that have well-defined deposits (or extremely prospective projects) in favourable jurisdictions.

Very screwed indeed. My banker friend expects there to be more deflation as people are unemployed and won't spend any money. Asked him about the effect of Bbbbbbrrrrrttttt and he said it won't happen. Still doesn't account for property prices and stupid stock valuations like $100billion for faggot AirBnB which owns absolutely fuck all.

The guy who wrote the book The Ponzi Factor is probably right, stocks are a ponzi and it's only best to get in after a crash (when the normies sleep) and even then buy dividend stocks.

I bought CCW in early September (bought at the top desu, didnt think silver would consolidate that long). They didnt move ever since, my holding is pretty small, 500$, so I'm fine losing it. I'm keeping it for the potential biggest silver quality in the world but mostly for the cobalt too. Won't sell for a few years but won't add for a long time before they at least give us some news. 6 month without news is clearly a lack of respect, holding cost is pretty high if I decide to add so its on-hold for now.
Didnt get into klondike yet, I was clearly happy to enter at 0.075 but its now at 0.115, way too high for my taste. I may throw 500$ at it next month and hold it like CCW just to see what happen but the lack of news isnt reassuring. I may just throw things at uranium instead. I already have 30k in physical gold so I'm looking for leverage, that explain the silver focus on miner.

>>24726239
one other thing to consider on Klondike before I actually go to sleep if I may, Klondike has a defined ore body written up in the 1950s, but its not 43-101 compliant, so they need to drill the ore body to upgrade what they already know. The ore there also goes to great depth within the mountains, some areas its believed to be basically solid lead zinc down to 700m with a width of some veins being 15m wide, but as the old Kooteny curse works the deeper you go the lower the silver grades get. There are however massive "blebs" of high grade ore scattered across all depths within the vein structure and host rock, likely generated from later epithermal activity. These will be major targets to go after, some of these when mined at the Payne mine produced 20,000ozpt Ag. Klondike will need major drills for this work, not those quaint little Hytech 5000 rigs, Longyear 44s will be needed. Underground drilling at depth will likely needed as well to properly infill the vein structure maps. Its a lot of work but i believe Klondike has the team to do it, weather or not they have the money though is another problem.

I'm not gonna take roundworm/heartworm medicine which is a strong toxic drug that kills worms by making your blood toxic for them to live in just so I can try to prevent Coronavirus when my age group has a %99.99 survival rate. Just don't eat poly unsaturated fatty acids (seed oil) which are what seeds use to fuel their growth and prevent animals from digesting them by slowing down digestion and causing inflammation,(PUFAs, look up Ray Peat diet) go to your local farm and buy a share of a cow's milk and literally just drink raw milk, you'll be healthier than 90% of modern humans. Raw milk is just blood plasma without the red basically. It has everything a newborn baby needs to grow, it's called "white blood" by native cultures in many parts of the world. Skim, 1%, 2%, and whole pasteurized milk has cholesterol particles that are oxidized from heat and will damage your body as well as enzymes and vitamins being destroyed which makes it harder to digest.

I'm currently prophylaxing using the veterinary formula (picrel horse oral paste) that I got on Amazon. Funny that Amazon is now running low/out of stock now that people know. Pharm companies always fuck people by making vet formulas cheap but jacking up prices on the identical human brand. Besides, it will be hard to find a physician to prescribe given how corrupt the NIH is. But yeah, this medication won a Nobel prize in 2015 and is on the WHO's list of essential medicines with 3.7 billion doses given to humans with a safety profile far better than aspirin. This stuff is so safe and effective, that this is almost too good to be true, but it's true. I also have ordered from the site below, but have not received it yet. This is if you want human form from India, but it takes some time to deliver. It says up to 4 weeks, but the person who told me about it said it was 10 days for them.

I'm just spreading the info. You are free to do with it what you will. Maybe you are fine, but I'm sure you have loved ones in groups who more at risk. Just saying. Additionally, there's long haul effects as well to consider and potential organ damage, so death isn't the only outcome to consider. I agree with PUFAs being the main cause of inflammation and things like athersclerosis. Animal fats are super healthy and everyone should be going into ketosis in winter. I get it. But more acutely, we have the Covid issue right now and this cheap, safe, and off patent drug has the potential to essentially reduce almost deaths from Covid, even in elderly. Worth looking into.

- Fed buys debt from banks

Normally, Treasury debts are financed by domestic & international bond investors.

But, in this case, the debt is financed by the central bank using funny money.

I don't think so. It'll probably be worked out within a generation as people will rapidly spread out and evenly coat the surface of the earth to get away from each other, then they will realize how little they know about how to survive on their own and find people that do who were already living on their own for a long time, starting villages. Hey goldfriends. I made some money through stock speculation and wanna buy some gold through my financial firm because most of my liquid net worth is in my retirement account and I want to use the money outside it for crypto, to diversify. If I buy enough to spend 25% of my liquid assets in my account, I'll get charged 1.98% on the purchase. Is this a ripoff?

Btw should I diversify into palladium and platinum as well as gold and silver? I looked at a gold chart and it seemed more volatile than I thought it would be. Is an even ratio of gold/silver/platinum/palladium a good stack?

It's just a reverse proof

a normal US proof was traditionally made with a polished die surface. When the mint noticed people collecting cameo type proofs with a polished field and frosted details they started making them that way on purpose. Just for fun and to make another product to sell they reversed the process with frosted field and polished details.

it's just another product to entice people to buy modern numismatic issues. Because that's how the mint makes extra money.

Gold is important to have, silver is a little bit more speculative but good to have, maybe even better than gold in a SHTF scenario. Platinum/palladium I wouldn't advice buying as physical assets since their premiums are ridiculous. If you want exposure to those (or any other metals), just get into mining stocks. Mining stocks are also leveraged to their undelying assets so if you're bullish on any metal and feel like you want some gains in a medium to long term, learn about investing in miners and go for those.

But bottom line, buy gold first and foremost, and some silver after you've enough gold in your opinion.

It's not an excuse. It's an explanation that gold is not necessary for a country to be prosperous. Anything can be money so long as it is tied to and matched with the production of society. Gold is just a particularly good manifestation of money because of its money-ness: durability, divisibility, rarity, difficulty to counterfeit. Tallysticks were actually a reasonably good medium of exchange.

Anons are stupid questions allowed?

Many people buy silver and gold as a hedge against inflation. But isn't there a possibility that the same money creation will be misused against a rising silver or gold price? For example buying large quantities of gold and silver on government funding and suppressing the price? Or an extreme scenario is creating gold certificates without any actual gold backing it up (just like fiat kek).

I still don't believe in Bitcoin but at least you can see every btc in circulation.

What you're saying doesn't make much sense. If governments buy PMs, it'll drive the prices up. The way to drive the prices of PMs down is to either have strong fiat currencies that are responsibly managed or the use the futures market to sell vast quantities of PMs that one doesn't possess. That is equivalent to your hypothetical scenario of selling gold certificates that aren't truly backed by gold.

That works for awhile but when the fraud breaks, the price of PMs actually skyrocket.

Short answer: Yes.

But the benefit of owning any commodity is that regardless of what manipulation takes place, the supply of it is limited. Precious metals are well, precious, and rare, which is why they have such an exceptional tendency to appreciate and also why they are targeted for price manipulation. But even though they are manipulated, there is by definition a limit to how much, because of simple physics. No amount of spoofing on the CME can change the fact that there is only so much gold and silver in the world overall and being mined at any time, and so those who want the physical metal inevitably have to bid against one another for it.

If you’re worried specifically about the government and JP Morgan autistically fucking you over by using all their resources to rig prices, the obvious hedge is diversification into other commodities, which can be done through ETFs, buying shares in companies with exposure to and rights or ownership of said alternative commodities, or when practical buying the physical commodity itself.

When you buy shares in companies like Rio Tinto and BHP that have their fingers in a million pies, you’re getting yourself a share in mining across a whole spectrum from iron to copper, gold silver and platinum. Also consider companies in agriculture, fishing, timber, energy...

Let's see here...

>Tinka
No DD
>Silver Spruce
Super risky asset to own, still waiting for that drilling to begin. No info about the whole ordeal about the landowner thing... You might want to ask their IR via phone or email. Getting a little tired of seeing this stock in my folio even though I only own 1k throwaway shares as a fun gamble
>Aurcana
Should begin climbing little by little the closer they get to production in Q3 2021. Will probably react nicely if silver starts running too. If they're late from schedule in ramping up to production the stock (and the company's balance due to the bad financing deal) will suffer so keep an eye on the development progress.
>Vangold
Excellent asset, they're constantly making progress at (I believe it was called) El Pinquico. Share price been climbing steadily since March and we might be positively surprised by their assays once drills start turning. Might crab until they announce drilling, the market wants cores
>Klondike Silver
I wouldn't maybe want to own this until they can finally get some drills on site. Pan Man vouches for their geology but it won't matter until they can get somebody to drill but they're late to the party on that. I expect share price to fall due to lack of activity.
>Sprott ETF
I don't do funds. I would just get into a good company instead.
>Canada Silver Copper Nickel Cobalt Battery Works
Just sold my shares at a tiny profit this week actually, wanted to reposition into less risky and more exciting plays. That said they have potential. Potential for success and potential for failure. It's a risky asset imho
>Impact
No DD done yet but shouldn't they be a pretty good producer? If so, just hold and wait for silver price to increase maybe?
>Butthorse
I bought into this ATH... Sold at C$0.10 when I realized that it was a mal-investment. Took the hit and went for better companies instead. Good luck with that, they're a super risky asset to own
>Another Sprott ETF
You know the drill
>Kinross

So true it hurts to even have 500 into it. Still waiting for news before adding more in the future. As for KS, I wont put a dollar as long their news are non-existent. Both have the same problem of not having enough communication. Speculative blind plays, both have resources, both make no effort to dig it up.

Should be a good play. I wasn't interested enough to invest but they're in my "maybe" list. Good ground at Golden Triangle, good infrastructure in place, a lotta silver and some zinc and lead mixed in that ore too. Lots of exploration upside too and I think they just got a lot of funding this week too. Good hold I think.
>Defiance
Another company that is in my "maybe" pile. They've got silver and they will probably find a buncha more. Not sure about the valuation or about how much we should expect them to find though. They had debt but they paid that all off and funded exploration thanks to a big (I think it was $8M) financing. Not up to date on Defiance but might be worth it to hold.

You need more gold miners and you should avoid taking so many risky bets I think. Also if I were you I'd get rid of the ETF's and invest into companies you have thorough understanding of.

If you actually read the literature and the studies, this is legit. If you would take an aspirin, but not ivermectin, then you need to read up. Aspirin is general regarded as safe, and yet kills 3,000 people per year. Ivermectin doesn't kill anyone. 3.7 billion doses have been given for a total of 450 adverse reactions, most of which have to do with the dying of the parasites they are taking it for. It's safety profile is beyond exceptional. It not only has anti-parasitic functions, but also has anti-viral properties as well as immono-modulating and anti-inflammatory properties. This is an off patent drug that is cheap and has already been declared a "wonder drug" before Covid.

Alright, that doesn't sound that bad. I don't use drugs like Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Tylenol, etc. even when I'm sick. Just think my body will handle it better than what a drug will modify it to do. Maybe in the case of a supervirus like the 1918 spanish flu where young people had overactive immune response creating cytokine storm which attacked their own cells turning their bodies blue you could use medicine, but why do you need it for a 99.99% survival rate? If you want it since you have pre-existing conditions and risk factors your relatives had contributed to their illness that's good reason I guess. Does it have really low death but consistently cause a low level of lasting damage? I would think there would be some tradeoff but maybe not

CCW is making an effort (I think?) but it just seems like they're having a hard time actually hitting mineralization. Difficult to understand deposit, plus it's deep underground at around 500m. Expensive, time-consuming drilling to do. Hell they might just have 100Moz Ag and a bunch of cobalt down there but if they can't define mineralization or if it takes them years just to come out with M&I resources it just won't be worth holding when there're so many other better, safer, some even severely undervalued plays out there. I thought it through logically and sold even though I was getting a little attached. Good riddance but good luck to you anon, hopefully they find more of that highest-grade-in-the-galaxy silver. Love the way those drill core samples look, total core porn!

Here's my folio's gold miners.
LIO, NHK, ME (new addition, bought today), GWA, PGM, MTH, MEK, FFOX, AWE (this one is diversified in base metals too)
I wouldn't want to part with any of these holdings but if I had to choose one to sell it would be GWA I guess, because my position is small. I believe most of these to be undervalued, some even severely so. I actually regret not investing more in some of these and hope they'd stay/go down.

Others that I don't own that are worth looking into.
NFG, LAB, SIC (these three are adjacent Newfoundland plays), TOC, CBI, NVO (huge sell-off due to KL dumping shares recently, don't know about the company though might be risky or not), AAX (no DD yet but high in my list, should be Su-Ag microcap), IRV, ENDR (no DD yet but tiny market cap and amazing drill hits, in Golden Triangle I believe?)

I can add to my favourites during dips and have bigger positions of those, and I can have smaller positions on more speculative plays at first and see if I want to have a bigger position after getting comfortable with the stock in my folio so to speak. I'm also in it for the long term. Some of these I expect to inch up in the span of multiple years. Also because the industry is full of inherent risks and because there are so many things that can go wrong I believe it's good to have many positions to reposition into if I must

I'll try to add to my favourites while also searching for new ones. Still want a position on BRC but will have to see whether I'll add instead of entering. Got some others in my mind too but I'll see what happens.

Utah and Arizona both have very favorable laws regarding gold and silver bullion usage in private transactions. UPMA, which is the organization that produces Goldbacks, is based in Utah and they make both the Utah and Nevada designs. I have met with them in their offices in Utah and I think they’re a good organization, that being said the current premiums that you pay for a gold back make them little more than a novelty collectible in my opinion. Is everyone ready for Christmas? I just went down the road and grabbed a tree, now to send some stuff down to my parents and my sister. I do wish I could go down south and see them but thats a bit of a challenge this year.

I put a few Christmas lights up after Thanksgiving, but that’s about the extent of it this year. Permanent work from home plus extensive travel restrictions means it’s just me and the pup this year.

>The value in and of itself is the consensus mechanism

Should've stopped there, that's all you needed

>> No.24745074

Something is a store of value if and only if:
1). There is value in and of itself to store, and
2). Stored value is reliably retained over time.

As Bitcoin doesn't have much history, it doesn't satisfy 2).

However, Bitcoin HODLers may argue that Bitcoin is a speculative store of value. It can only be the case if it at least satisfies 1).

However, Bitcoin does not satisfy 1) either.

Bitcoin's supposed utility is as:
a). a medium of exchange, and
b). a speculative store of value.

b) is what is debated against in this argument.

For a), a medium of exchange has value in and of itself only if it is a good with its own value & utility other than as a medium.

Medium of exchange was invented as a lingua franca of barter of goods for goods, i.e. a universal good with its own value & utility other than as a medium of exchange, and that value & utility can be measured against other goods.

Bitcoin's only supposed utility is a) and b), and no other.

Therefore, Bitcoin suffers the very problem why fiat money fails as a store of value: there is no value in and of itself to store.

Sing it brother.

These cryptowankers need to get that their proof of work nonsense is a digital replication of fiat and that the value of said shitcoin is only traded FOR fiat.

If a shitcoin is so great why have a lambo-ready crypto millionaire? Why not hoard all the crypto and simply transact in it. Ponzi with digital tulips.

I think your definition is weak/poorly defined.

Like gold, silver, platinum, and palladium, Bitcoin is like an element. It is "immutable" limited in supply, and unable to be counterfeited. Gold's value is not necessarily best defined/determined by its value in tech applications or "allure" it's the fact that is one of Five total things that can be considered "honest".
Your whole bottom half of the argument applies almost exactly to gold. The employment of gold in industrial is currently negligible and may continue being like that.
>Bitcoin suffers the very problem why fiat money fails as a store of value: there is no value in and of itself to store.
fiat fails because it violates its own value by not having a "limited" supply. The dollar was the reserve currency because it was backed by gold, it was literally just gold but paper. But then inevitably it started the decline because some retard said "print". Bitcoin is different than fiat because it does not have this "feature" of unlimited growth/supply.

Gold is unlike iron or copper as an element. Alchemists tried to create gold but to no success.

Bitcoin is only artificially scarce. You can still create Bitcoin with "alchemy".

Gold is relatively more valuable than copper. As a metal, its properties is superior to copper.
It could replace copper in its industrial uses.
The only reason we don't is because it is scarcer.

But anyone rich enough to have plenty of physical gold can use gold for many things copper do if they want.

Hence there is gold copper ratio, gold silver ratio, gold real estate ratio, etc.

Bitcoin is not a good/service. There is no value in and of itself. You can't measure how valuable it is against goods and services.
