QYLD basically does this strat and pays the premiums out as dividends. QYLG is similar but only sells covered calls on 50% of the shares to leave room for growth. Half the dividend but more growth.
You can also do 2% OTM calls on SPY which consistently beats SPY. The ultimate income strat is simply selling monthly SPY puts. Psychologically though most traders dont like the idea of selling puts but it has the best return of all boomer income strats.
