Did you use Metamask?
I would really recommend a Trezor or Ledger, Ledger negative is closed source software/do not know what the code looks like, Trezor negative is the physical access vulnerability

Either is fine just pick which interface you like better

If you did create a wallet with Metamask or another option that gives you a 12 word seed phrase, I strongly recommend you create a new wallet/24 word seed phrase on your new hardware wallet (Trezor/Ledger) and move your crypto to that new ETH address

Keep in mind most people will blow this out of proportion, it is very unlikely (currently) that someone gaining physical access to your Trezor actually has enough skill to pull this exploit off

You _could_ always create a 24 word seed phrase on the hardware wallet, capture the addresses for the cryptos you want to store, then wipe the device so all that you are left with is physical access to your 24 word seed phrase and no other mean can compromise your wallet. I prefer this option for cold storing, if you create the 24 word seed phrase on the actual hardware wallet, it never loads on your computer regardless if we are looking at hard drive cache or saved on RAM. The only negative here is convenience is lower than if you just kept the access on your hardware wallet

Metamask being extremely convenient but not the most secure - Hardware wallets slightly less convenient but more secure - Cold/paper wallets much less convenient but extremely secure

I think a fair compromise is using Metamask with 'play money' that you swing around various shitcoins

Ledger/Trezors used as a cold storage that seldom need to be connected to use to send assets off of to another address; rather these are receiving storages that do not need to be connected. You send profits from shitcoins to these addresses or you send new long term holds to those cold wallet addresses
