Bro, shut the fuck up. That is the single most dangerous idea to the powers at be and not something you want to be caught preaching.

That's because its true. People pretend to grasp this concept, but what's telling is that theyd commit heinous acts and torture themselves for even the slimmest chance at grand wealth. Posit a theoretical, they have a price Every time, despite that a trillion worthless fiat is no greater than just 1. The concept of money is little more than global mass hysteria enslaving our entire species; but i know better than to put a target on my back and actually tell people the fucking truth.

Cashout strategy:

So far I haven't cashed out of any of my stocks, but I've seen many people who sell like half the shares they own once they reach a decent enough +% and then buy again.

In your experience, is it a winning strategy on a medium/long stocks portfolio? It's actally what I do with my boomer funds, but that's another story.

The abusive scenes, broadcast to his 680,000 subscribers, also saw Burim grab Efremova by the neck as other guests continued talking - seemingly oblivious.

The attack left a traumatised Efremova with blood pouring from her mouth as well as sustaining other facial injuries."

I'm not entirely sure what you mean, if you mean selling part of the position to buy a completely different stock, basically just profit taking, it's so dependent on the type of stock in the first place. The strategy works well for highly volatile meme stocks but if you consider it for something like AMZN you're just taking away your good entry position in a high performing stock that is unlikely to go back down to where you bought it, assuming you're up a sizeable amount.

For meme stocks, I of course love selling half at 100% gain and letting the rest ride. Lately I've been experimenting with selling 1/4th the position at 50% in SPACs to bring my entry below the NAV just in case the merger falls through or something.

Bros, I am unironically, not even memeing right now, -50% in my portfolio since March. I'm a new trader so considering the 90/90/90 rule this is actually above average, but still absolute shit and I am ashamed. I made some good calls like SPCE and PLTR, but mostly I FOMO'd and lost to shit memes like KODK and more recently SNDL. I think I learned good lessons from most of these though.

Is it too late to make decent profits during this clown market? I'm afraid this is my only chance and after corona the stocks will go back to normal boomer hours with 5% yields every year instead.

How long is a piece of string? It's easy to make rules that you'll sell at a certain percentage but in practice it's much harder to do and they end up becoming guidelines for the maximum amount of gain before taking profit. It's often better to treat every stock independently, looking at the fundamentals, risk/reward, entry position, if it's overbought or oversold, and countless other factors. Basically it comes down to gut feeling but if the stock is risky you should try to take profit all the way up with the understanding that you cannot predict the future, only make educated guesses. Capital preservation is very underrated and you always want to live to fight another day.

Hopefully. TSLA might end up pumping or crabbing up to December 21st and then selling off after it's included in the S&P 500. If that happens, you'll probably get greedy, not sell after this, and then get your face ripped off by the next pump like all the retarded bears before you. kek, as someone who visits biz you should realize how dumb the European system is. If your income is over 70000 Euros per year, you are a net spender in society. If you are a poor fag or unemployed, you are a net gainer.

So we (the people with decent income) spend fucking huge amounts of taxes which get transferred to the poor cunts. If you are in decent shape, you probably only have to go to the doctor 1-2 times a year and don´t have to pay for expensive treatments (I didn´t have a serious disease for years), but I probably paid 10 times the amount in taxes.

In the US i would pay much lower taxes and paid more for my doctor. Guess what, I would pay much less for my medical treatment overall.

really what people are concerned about is whether Sherman will give a guidance and/or address the Cohen topic. It's better to buy outright.

SPY has some kind of expected return as a function of time meaning the more time you spend in SPY the higher the expected return.
if you DCA and get lucky you might make money, if you DCA and get unlucky you might lose money there's no way to tell beforehand.

the only thing we can be sure of is that your EXPECTED returns is higher if you spend more time in SPY so that's why I recommend buying outright.

I would say it´s the same shit in every country with state owned healthcare. The institutions are unprofitable and the government has to pay huge amounts of money for these institutions. The costs get bigger and bigger and the government cuts their funding.

The institutions can´t pay for modern equipment, the employees are overworked and underpaid (most skilled leave anyways) etc. etc. It gets worse and worse over time.

I am not saying private health institutions are better, both have serious problems, but as someone with a decent income you should always prefer private state healthcare.

at the very least, i remember /smg/ discussing that GME was still net cash $5/share after Q2

i still don't understand why that one anon bought at $8 then sold at $6. All the GME bagholders were immediately redeemed after a couple red days because it turned out the dip was unironically fake and just manipulated by short sellers (+10 million increase in short interest over that period)

What I was talking about is similar to DCA, but is not DCA (I think). It's also kinda similar to the Martingale strategy/doubling down but not the same because there's limited risk.
The rationale is that if it recently dipped it's likely to regress to the mean and grow faster than it would normally do, so maybe that offsets the opportunity cost of having the money parked while waiting for the dip. Or it could be even invested in something else as long as that second asset wasn't too correlated to the S&P.

Don´t listen to these cunts, their advice would be ok in a normal environment, but the fucking market is inflated as fuck. Just look at the 2000 dotcom bubble, it will take you years if the bubble collapses.

It all depends on your view of the future:

1. If you bet that the FED will keep pumping the markets and they can control everything, you can expect the markets to rise even higher and it would be better to buy it right now.

2. If you think that the FED can´t control everything and there might be an event which will result in a liquidity crisis and a bust of the bubble, you should stick to your plan.

The problem for me is that I don´t want to bet against the FED, but on the other hand I know that these cunts are incompetent and can´t control the markets.

Remember why you're making your gains /smg/

>In June, elites at important international institutions such as the World Economic Forum and the United Nations launched a far-reaching campaign to “reset” the global economy.

>The plan involves dramatically increasing the power of government through expansive new social programs like the Green New Deal and using vast regulatory schemes and government programs to coerce corporations into supporting left-wing causes.

>The two justifications for the proposal, which has been aptly named by its supporters the “Great Reset,” are the COVID-19 pandemic (the short-term justification) and the so-called “climate crisis” caused by global warming (the long-term justification).

>According to the Great Reset’s supporters, the plan would fundamentally transform much of society. As World Economic Forum (WEF) head Klaus Schwab wrote back in June, “the world must act jointly and swiftly to revamp all aspects of our societies and economies, from education to social contracts and working conditions. Every country, from the United States to China, must participate, and every industry, from oil and gas to tech, must be transformed. In short, we need a ‘Great Reset’ of capitalism.”

>Internationally, the Great Reset has already been backed by influential leaders, activists, academics and institutions. In addition to the World Economic Forum and United Nations, the Great Reset movement counts among its the International Monetary Fund, heads of state, Greenpeace and CEOs and presidents of large corporations and financial institutions such as Microsoft and MasterCard.

>But in America, most policymakers – including President-elect Joe Biden – have been relatively quiet about the Great Reset, leaving many to speculate what a Biden administration would do to support or oppose this radical plan.

to be fair i used to be in at around $7 and i sold when some anon said it was crashing from $9 downwards. ended up having to buy back in at $10 and literally just said fuck it im holding until at least Q4 earnings or a major pump. christmas came early with the MSFT news.

more and more often now i feel like the key to success in the markets as a trader is one of two things: 1) you do proper FA on a stock and DCA into that shit, using TA to determine what is "low" and what increments to buy more at based on volatility, and you literally just fucking hodl that shit even if it goes down as long as the FA thesis remains true, or 2) you trade strictly intraday using TA only and have strict risk/reward on every trade, which has been fully backtested and optimized using a system, where you consider all price action to be random and you're just using your edge to be profitable over a large sample size of trades.

as long as you pick one (or hell both, i do both myself), you should be fine i think. it's the people who try to min/max the overnight stuff that get fucked imho. if you get into a meme stock you think could at most drop 50% put in an amount of money you don't mind losing 50% of, it's that simple.

That was a simplified example. You could have as many steps as you wanted (as long as you can buy sufficiently small positions). For example you could buy each time it drops 1%. And you could have a 1% TP so even if the market churns for a while you could still be making more money than you would just holding. And we assume the market can never reach 0, therefore it must have (trended) mean reversing properties.

i mean yeah take your pick. point is, of course the stock market or similar things are easy if you literally know the future. the problem is you don't know the future before it happens, and even the best setup could be wrong, or some black swan event could happen unexpectedly, that's what makes the game so difficult because it creates "risk". if you literally knew the future there would be no risk.

that's why hindsight posts are the dumbest shit. of course it's easy to say stuff after the fact. what you want to try to find in the market are "truisms", things that are as highly predictable as possible and happen with regularity, that you can count on. it's very hard to find them but that's generally how people make money. a good example would be understand how to short volatility because it's a mean-reverting phenomenon, or how the 200 hour and 200 day MA's are institutional benchmarks specifically on those time frames. or how short squeezes work when a stock with a high short float gaps up bigly.

you form strategies around shit like that and you end up doing much better.

good, i hope enough people learn from it. too many anons shoot for the moon and end up shooting themselves in the foot, turning a winning trade into a loser because they got too greedy.

or even just the stress involved. once you sell half for a nice profit well above your cost basis, you can rest easy. worst case scenario i get stopped out on the other half, but i already made money. if it keeps going up, im still in the game making more. literally can't lose. i want other anons to learn from this, because protecting your capital is the #1 rule in this game. making profits is secondary. it doesn't matter if you make $1 million if you then lose $2 million, which legitimately happens to people btw.

BTW for the leafs who trade with a TFSA

does intraday scalping work out fine? I'm trying to think of a situation where I might screw up and end up with a negative balance in my TFSA again, but the only way that happens is if you sell shares to buy calls i think

like I could daytrade like 10 times, but since all the cash and sales settle T+3 at the same time, it won't matter in the end I think?

imho the best way to play meme stocks is to buy in, sell half on a major pump, and hold the other half in case the dream becomes reality somehow. GME is a rare opportunity to potentially get an infinity squeeze, i don't want to miss out on that. now i get to gamble on that possibility risk-free. if they ever call a vote which forces shares to be called in, my theory being that it's due to a buyout (some think Cohen but i could honestly see MSFT maybe, you never know), things are gonna get crazy real fucking quick. AMTD maxes me out at putting a sell limit order at around $800/share, so that's where i have mine because fuck it why not. even if it doesn't work out im still in profit, chilling. you do you, though.

I would say it really depends on the stock. I think you did completely the right thing with GME as it's a risky long term (more than a year for example) hold. Most of the stocks I buy though, I don't take profit from I just hold them. Some exceptions like WKHS which I'm still holding but I've taken a bit of profit when it was higher

Most of my stocks are more boring stable companies and it's better not to take profit. Even some of the meme stocks, for example PLTR, I haven't sold any of my shares of that

i don't disagree but I would also rather make that decision when there's actually concrete details (Q3) regardless of whether it dumps or pumps after Q3.
I've always leaned towards FA so i wouldn't be able to stand trimming GME right now when it's such an unusual situation that's shaping out to be very similar to TUP, yet with much lower risk. Both GME and TUP were valued at 0.05x of revenues at one point, the difference being that it was exaggerated for GME from their massive share buybacks rather than a real risk of bankruptcy

also I think people are forgetting the tax benefits from CARES act and goodwill impairment could be huge for Q3 (like for Nordstrom)

on the boring companies i swing trade the dips. this has been a pretty fucking crazy year to learn to trade in for a lot of people, i have a really good strategy for swing trading solid, boring companies, but i really want the risk of a black swan event to go away for awhile and hopefully return to the next 10 year bull run before another bust cycle happens. still seems like even if you get caught buying the top whenever the next covid crash style event happens, if you just hodl you'll be fine, which is a bit comforting. just avoid anything like the dot com bubble and it's fine which is why im trading shit like KO and HD instead of FAGMAN

Why not just use a margin account or at least a RRSP account? It's unlikely you're going to get a TFSA audit until you account is 230k+ but I think they'll look back on all your history and use it to determine if you were conducting business activity, which you were because of the scalping and short duration trading. Then they'll force you to take all the gains out and pay taxes on it. I've been keeping my TFSA as clean as possible to avoid this happening, but I'm at around 200k so it makes sense for me to project my contribution amount and keep growing it for tax free retirement income.

"but covid has nothing to do with AMD it's still a great company and it gets its stuff from Taiwan not China!" i thought.

i just don't trust shit anymore. scaling out is an important hedge against uncertainty imho, i learned it from no nonsense forex:

see if there wasn't the paying-off-debt news and the microsoft news, i would agree

GME is coming out of bankruptcy valuations that it's a case where downside remains *relatively* low (because it's still priced dirt cheap.. at 0.15x of revenues) but upside is crazy without a squeeze. Again like TUP or other stocks like that (like OVV for example in oil/natural gas sector, going 5x while everything else in oil dipped back close to March valuations)
I'd gladly risk part of my unrealized gains and just focus on the fundamentals. I had a price target of $20 even BEFORE the microsoft news. And again it's only been 3 months
