I'm saving so fucking much money since I started cooking at home - breakfast time edition. It can't be this easy bros. I feel like Limmy when he found bottled wa'ah in his faucet. Some tomato's, some cottage cheese, some onion, basil, oregano, and parmesan. and poof....a delicious breakfast that isn't a McMuffin.
Let's do some quick maths on this.
>McMuffin meal at Drive thru with a large coffee
$8.99
>Same meal ordered on DoorDash
$18.16 with tax and tip
>Green onions
$1.00 for a 6 only used one so $0.17 worth of onion
>"organic" Tomato
$1.99 for 6 only used one so $0.33
>Oregano and Basil
I honestly bought that shit years ago. Not even gonna count it.
>Cottage cheese
$3.17 for 24oz used about 8oz so $1.05
> grated parmesan
$2.36 for 8oz used maybe .5oz so $.15
>DeathWish kcups
$17.97 for 18 used one for 12oz so let's just say $1

So the rough total cost for breakfast today is a whopping $2.70. Multiply that difference out across 252 wagie cagie days it's a savings of almost $1600 from one meal.

Did you make some for your boyfriend too

You’re gonna make it anon. Apply this principle to everything and you’ll make it. You don’t need to make $200k/yr to retire early. It’s all about what you do with your money.

Based but cottage cheese is fucking disgusting especially with parm added to it wtf step your game up

Good job op, it's smart to cook your own food. When you realize how cheap and healthy it is, you'll be baffled by retards who say 'I can't afford healthy food!!!'.
Baking sourdough at home is incredibly cheap and easy. A loaf of bread will cost you less than a dollar with quality king arthur flour

That looks tasty, anon. Nice work.

I'm trying to get my cost basis per kilocalorie under that 0.005 level

That meal wouldnt even fill a deer, also you are an adult have you not been making atleast 3/4s your meals? I eat steaks everyday sometimes because my local wallyworld puts them on flash sale if they dont sell. 7$ NY straps that would cost 20$ at outback.

Shitty Daisy brand. The salty parm helped liven it up

I figured out only recently that when you think about the cost on a per meal basis and not as net cost of groceries the savings is insane. it was hard to quantify before because I couldn't do it like my mom and just throw shit together and make it work. Once you learn the staple foods it all starts coming together.

>>24513837
thank you

I don't like heavy breakfasts. it slows me down the rest of the day. Usually dinner I'll make something more satisfying and I agree flash sales on meat are the shit. The farmers market around my way sometimes does Buy 1 get 3 free but don't advertise it. You only know if you're in the store.

OMG anon what a great life hack! I NEVER would have thought about making my own food, thank you for making this thread... What a great idea! I can't wait to try this 'cooking' for myself. I always wondered what the 'kitchen' room was for when I bought my house... It all makes sense now

ok breakfast makes sense, I enjoy a quickly made one, although I like it warm, something like eggs. But what about dinner or lunch? Anything decent will take time to cook, and surely I can make more during that time. I can order food that will get here in 45min and feed us both for 15$. If I did it myself, I would spend 5$ for that and would spend an hour at least preparing and cleaning. Instead, I can earn more than that if put that time in researching or trading crypto

>what are one pot/ one skillet meals or slow cookers
To each their own. I used to think the same, but I've found cooking to be quite cathartic especially in a crab market. It's turned in to my me time where I just shut all the graphs off, turn off the TV, stop browsing the chans and just have some introspective thought

What’s sad is Americans actually don’t cook and this is indeed a life hack for them

You can regrow the green onion too. Just put the root bulbs in a jar of water by your kitchen window and they will continuously regrow the chute.

Mainland isn't bad but Hawaii and Alaska are fucked. Having travelled around a bit I can tell you most burgers have no idea how good they've got it as far as cost of living is concerned. Most other nations have us BTFO'd on paid time off and work life balance though. Give and take I suppose.
