I was short in the march megadump and I managed to close out my position before the exchange shutdown.

If you are autistic enough you can easily make good money trading bitcoin.

If you are a noob look up the indicator VMC Cipher_B_Divergences on Trading view, it is a free version of a paid indicator and it works just as good. This indicator is free so there is no reason not to use it.

Here is a mini tutourial, see the big blue wave after the dump from 19200 - 16200? See how that wave is followed 2 days later by a smaller blue wave? The big wave is the 'anchor wave' and the little wave is the 'trigger wave'

Even though the price was just crabbing the momentum was moving in a bullish direction so that was a good time to go long.

If you went long when the trigger wave was confirmed and held the position for 2-3 days you would have been up 15% plus with leverage that is a massive gain.

It depends on how much you want to make but in general only invest 2-10% of your money and slowly grow it each day.

Ex: Starting with: $1000 (10% of your savings)
Put $1000 on BTC during the bottom of a down cycle ($18500).
Take out $1032 at the top of the down cycle ($19100)
You just made $32 (minus any exchanges fees).
Now put $1032 on BTC once it's at the bottom of a down cycle again and cash out once it's at the top of the cycle.
Wash & Repeat slowly increasing your earnings.

There are people who just spend 1-3 hours a day and make hundreds of thousands a day doing this.

Okay, before you get started you are required to read the following books.
The Intelligent Investor
Security Analysis
How to Read Financial Statements
Options as a Strategic Investment

ONLY once you have read and fully understood everything in those books will you be ready to trade stocks.

Since that's a lot of work and you're looking for a distraction, why not just be a local bitcoin exchanger? Offer conversions of $100 to BTC and back, no more no less, to real world people at a 10% markup. Charge a flat fee of $50 to explain crypto to them, and $100 plus expenses to set them up with a hardware wallet. It'll keep you busy and you'll have guaranteed profits, which is better than trading with that small amount of money in my opinion.

if you want to daytrade crypto you need a mix of both. Leave fibonacci and waves out of the question, also trendlines. Move to the hourly chart. on BTC you have to be somewhat careful of price levels because they do exist, and I'll explain later.

You know what people mean by taking emotions out of trading? here's what you do. You take some indicators, a bunch of them, together, and test them. If by your own rules they all agree to go long or short, you open that position. you basicly end up with an algorithm.

Of course, I'd be wary of actual price levels (my indicator gave me a long on the last 19.800 pump and fuck me if I avoided that one).

They're not the best at all but I'll just give you an example of what I mean. Put up any moving average (be realistic here, don't use a 200 on hourly), RSI and MACD on default settings.

Use the crossing of the moving average as a long or short. Then you check RSI and MACD.

Use RSI as a trend indicator instead of overbought/oversold (so if the line crosses above 50 it's a long signal and below is a short), and MACD as is. If price closes above your moving average, RSI is above 50 and MACD has crossed (green instogram) you have clearance to long.

See pic related. Once you get a valid entry signal, set take profit and stop losses accordingly, using ATR. Again, these are crappy indicators but it's an example of how many false signals they filtered out. You won't win 100% of the time, it never happens, but that long at 17.100 would've given you easily 2600$ profit on a 1 BTC trade.

>> No.24476966

>>24476874
Adding on to this.
Your moving average crossover in the other direction is an exit signal. No matter what, if you enter long and the next candle closes below your moving average, you exit. Take a small loss to live another day.

Don't be the smartass trying to call reversal. That shit hardly ever works. You might get lucky once or twice, but in the end you'll end up blowing your account. Trade with the trend.

Last piece of info. ATR, Average true range. Whenever you open a position that shit should be ALWAYS up on your chart. It tells you, on average, how much anything moved in the last 14 periods. You use that to put stop losses and take profits. As a starting point, set 1.5x ATR as a hard stop loss, and a 1 ATR as a take profit. If the trade reaches your take profit, you take half your trade off the board, and move the stop loss to break even. At this point you let it run, because you can't lose.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS have a fucking stop loss. Don't be a retard. Money management is the first step if you want to day trade. You're not going to put your $100 and have them turn overnight to 15k.

For perspectives sake: Warren Buffett pulls an average of 20% yearly returns. Scale it to your $100 account. If you end the year up at $125, congrats, you are a better trader than him.

Enjoy

Yup. Thing is, indicators are made by math people who don't trade. They make something up and they're like here, test it. Shit like RSI was made in the fucking 80's for the stock market (and even then it was made for daily and weekly timeframes - and it was shit). Crypto follows a completely different set of rules, so expecting it to work properly is just asking to lose money.

Sometimes though just flipping an indicator, tweaking the settings, using it in a different way, (RSI as a trend indicator with a line on the 50s) or just plotting a moving average on one can really surprise you. Once you have a system in place, the fomo aspect dies. If it tells you to enter, you enter. Otherwise you move on with your life.

honestly, crypto has liquidity but eh. At the most you can open a 5-6 BTC position without slipping too much (and even then, a 20 points slippage on a 5 BTC position you're already $100 down). I usually stick to 1.5-2 at most even if my risk allows more because it's not just worth it. This kinda play once you get a decently sized account (15-20k) allows you to hit stock market and FX and do very well though, because there's no slippage issues even on the exotic pairs. Your 1 lot won't do shit in the grand scheme of things, or your 10k position on the SPX.

Manual trading is retarded in an age of quantitative finance and machine learning.

Your "experience" is just a few patterns your slow human brain picked up on after countless hours spent staring at charts that fire neurotransmitters that give you a "feel" of the market. As this is ultimately just boils down to pattern recognition, machines can and are doing it better than you.

The human brain is able to perform orders of magnitude more calculations/operations than the most advanced super computers. Also, poker and chess bots that use machine learning to play "perfectly" are regularly beaten by actual professionals (a new AI is made every few years and is usually turned into a pr stunt). AI isn't anywhere close to human's subconscious thought processing/pattern recognition, like not even in the same stratosphere. Most people just don't know how to recognize signals from their subconscious

>The human brain is able to perform orders of magnitude more calculations/operations than the most advanced super computers

GPT-3 has something like 200 billion neurons which is double that of the average human brain. This discussion is hard to define but by that metric supercomputers beat humans. At any rate, you don't need supercomputers to do many human-level tasks as evinced by all kinds of machine learning experiments (self driving cars for example)

>Also, poker and chess bots that use machine learning to play "perfectly" are regularly beaten by actual professionals (a new AI is made every few years and is usually turned into a pr stunt)

I'm not sure about poker but definitely, definitely not for chess. Chess bots have LONG since left humans behind.

>AI isn't anywhere close to human's subconscious thought processing/pattern recognition

Deep learning says otherwise so you're fighting a losing battle here

But this one does.

AI is old as fuck.
But neuronal network (even if not that new) are a subset of AI that just is the best at patern recognition by first grotesquely abusing statistics to find the model, and then quite easily and happily apply said model to incoming data.

Thing is, I can understand it happening, and one could say "well dude you're opening a 100k position on BTC, the fuck did you expect" - but if you translate that to a 50k account with a 2% risk, that's 1000$ you can afford to lose in a single trade. And starting with 10% of your max loss already is pretty huge.

Everyone here is over complicating this. All you have to do is buy low sell high. Here is a technical pattern that always fucking works: europoors have weak hands so the market always dumps when they wake up. Set your buy orders for around then. And then set your sell orders near the high of the previous 12 hours. Close your trading portal and go do whatever. Come back and you've made money. I do this every fucking day. All of these TA / algorithm analysis bull shit doesn't work, especially when the crypto market is actively manipulated by chinks, whales, and weak handed bitches in europe.

>how to do is short a coin

when prices are going down and you are sure,

margin-sell 10x leverage
Your current worth in usd (either as free usd or coins sold at current price) multiplied by 10 ... you can use this much to borrow coins .. say 10000coins, and sell it right away to get say 5k usd

When prices go down further and further, and around the time it pulls back up slightly, buy 10,000coins with 4k usd instead of 5k. repay 10,000 coins. Keep 1k usd profits
