regarding bitcoin:
what the fuck happened with mainstream news sources? even as recently as 2 years ago they ridiculed and lambasted bitcoin as being a complete joke and you were a fucking IDIOT for wasting money on it. The past week , bloomberg and other money sites are basically advertising bitcoin as a safe store of wealth/value. Also, how much truth is there to institutional money leaving gold and entering bitcoin? I think it's a complete fabrication. People who are into bitcoin understand that there is a boom/bust cycle every time bitcoin undergoes it's "halving" event. This bull run-up was in the works for a while. Every time the price has ended up higher than before each halving event, and it just so happens that this halving event bull run has coincided with a precious metals correction as they cool off from their July/august bull run (stemming from corona panic). Then journalists take these two completely different commodities and the motivations/reasons behind the behavior of their prices and marry them together with a story they just pulled out of their asses: people are leaving gold and flocking to bitcoin. Why would they do this when they've all hated bitcoin with a passion for almost the entire decade it has existed?

its actually ridiculous how mis-represented the fud is claiming the apocalypse. No one is saying that.
It wont happen all at once, the US is going to continue to devolve into a third world dystopian shithole, that is what is currently happening. This is a worse place to live than it was 10 years ago, which was worse than 10 years before that, which was worse than 10 before that. Your purchasing power will continue to decrease, your income will continue to be taxed even further to be given to minorities, and your rights will continue to be restricted as the police nanny state tightens its noose around your balls, and no one will care or do anything about it. That is what we mean by the the collapse, the slow dying of a once great nation that has run its course. PMs are one of the best ways to protect yourself, but time is running out you only have about 10 years left max.

These are very good points. Anyone with a room temperature IQ can see there is a lot of money tied up in BTC. There has been institutional money getting in slowly but surely accumulating. Not to mention the shit has been mined to it's bones by the Chinese. Maybe it's the schitzo in me speaking, but the fact that this has all happened and with the incessant shilling of BTC by the MSM leads me to believe that a coordinated dump is going to happen very soon, and it isn't going to be a group of sweaty internet money either: it'll be those institutions, the Chinese (who now can do it guilt free with Biden on the horizon). You take what little money people have left and in no time it'll be time to implement UBI on a population that is growing more unemployed and unpaid by the day thanks to the (((virus))).

I'm just glad I started stacking when I did this year. Definitely wish I'd have been more tuned into the economic circus that's been going on, but better late than never.

Haha, it was just some tongue-in-cheek humour. Of course I knew your reaction was in comparison to Skeena's Eskay Creek.
>Last time the mine ran, the ore was too heavily penalized by mills due to antimony and cadmium levels exceeding their want rate
I'm guessing antimony and cadmium are unwanted impurities. What's stopping Blue Lagoon from building their own mill though?
>>24463456
Hum, could be, I guess. I can't see anything else in the NR's that could clearly point to such a massive dip. They've apparently halted mining since that movement at the waste area due to safety concerns. This is from a second NR after the one you linked:

"As announced on 2 October 2020, movement was detected in a localised area of waste material in the Sukari open pit Stage 4 West wall. The area was identified by the on-site geotechnical team, and early detection enabled a quick response which stabilised the area and therefore safeguarding our workforce and the short to medium term open pit operations. The localised area of instability is immediately above a higher-grade ore zone and mining scheduled for Q4 and into 2021 was immediately deferred until the area has been rehabilitated. A comprehensive geotechnical risk assessment is underway to identify the cause and develop a rehabilitation plan. Initial assessment indicates a combination of steep slope angles and the localised presence of groundwater in the West Wall of the pit as contributing factors."

There's some more info I can't fit in the post but read the full NR here: https://ceo.ca/@accesswire/centamin-plc-announces-q3-2020-report

TL;DR: They have to mine lower grade resources for now until it's safe to mine the primary part of the open pit, it seems

Yep there unwanted by smelters because there an extra hassle to remove and safely store on site. If I recall correctly when I worked there Antimony spiked in some samples of the higher grade ore up to 10% which was way over the limit. Blue Lagoon will have to figure out how to deal with that issue if they want to produce concentrates. Also as >>24463856 stated there are also concerns about contamination to local ground water due to lower grade sulfides being improperly stored in piles on surface, as well as from flooded 1930s workings leaching ARD. Its not too big a deal but for sure another hassle for Blue Lagoon to have to pay for.

There are no officially set gold or silver prices because the comex is gone, the stock market failed completely, the U.S. is at war with itself, Europe is under siege by Russia, and China is sweeping through the Pacific and Asia.

The price of gold and silver is set by your neighbors based on what goods and services you are trying to buy from them.

Forgive me /pmg/, I had to sell some silver today. Boss says she won't likely be able to pay me till march, and even then dunno how much she'll be able to give me of my full salary. Being in the middle of grad school, this whole virus debacle, and my gross over/under qualification for chemistry jobs, I'm in a shit spot. So I sold ten ounces so we can buy a dozen chickens to give us eggs over the winter. Only got 40oz left, so who knows.

Depending on breed/age/and other various factors, a hen can lay up to 6 eggs a week. With our current flock of 2yr old hens, and this new flock of younger hens, I could be expecting anywhere from 12 to 18 eggs per week. Going premium for farm fresh eggs is $5 minimum per dozen. Assuming a maximum at 1.5 dozen for 15 weeks gives us 22.5 dozen eggs (at $5 market price) so 112.50USD. Is it breaking even, at that range, no. Over a year, yes and then some.

Plus, it's food for my wife and two kids I can depend on, along with our storage of grain and meat from our ranch. We should survive, just based on food alone. Bills on the other hand, we may see a few collectors come our way, and they may have some missing persons reports shortly therafter (in minecraft, of course).

They can survive in winter if they have shelter, a good nest, but some proper heating helps too. On average a chicken will produce about 1 egg a day. your average hen will eat about 4 oz of feed. so if there is 12 chickens you would need about 3lbs of feed each day and for the whole year would need about 1,095 lbs of feed. if your chickens egg laying was consistent you'd have about 4,380 eggs for the whole year.
>Cost excluding coop & optional heating
Feed $320-$600 depending on quality
>Egg Price is around $2 or a little below for 12
If you sold at a $1 it be about $365 if you were able to sell at the $2 you'd be at $730
>There are a lot of ways to reduce your feed cost most backyard farmer go for the fermented feed or table scraps. For farmers I know they'll let them roam where cows grazed so that the chickens can spread the manure and eat the bugs that gather there.

If you like PureGold, you should look at GoWest Gold ($GWA), another Canadian producer.

PureGold has big names on the team and an exceptional track record but the smart money bought way before the pump.

GoWest is set to start production to 50k oz/year and ramp up to 100k, similar to $PGM, but marketcap is now only $33 million.

Their management has fucked up in the past and working with a Chinese company for offtake of the concentrate so investors have been weary, but once news release comes out this month that they've starting moving the ore all will be forgiven and price will explode.

Investors also weary because its refractory gold but they have some of the best numbers in the game.

bit of relivant info as well about Ascot, there looking into the new SAMS system of mining developed by Minrail to operate some parts of the mine where conventional LHDs and other gear would have issues. https://im-mining.com/2020/04/17/ascot-resources-considers-sams-mining-method-releasing-positive-feasibility-study/ this tech could make the project far more efficient but the tech is very new.

Newfag to PMs here. I just started stacking like a month ago and I'm only up to ~60 oz. Ag.
Obviously I'm going to keep stacking, but where and how do you guys trade miners? I did a cursory google search, but didn't turn up anything that looked right.
Is it like crypto where you can trade it yourself, or do you need a broker?

Stocks have to be traded in a brokerage account. If you're a young newb either buy etfs like gdx/gdxk, sli/silj or dca into mutual funds like schiffs gold fund

After yesterday's pump I thought about picking up some SLV and SLJ since they're back on a small dip. Physical seems to remain untouched from yesterday since that small rally. I'm still thankful I bagged some Saturday, I actually thought I should have waited for $20 or below. Impatience pays off I suppose!

I have some calls on GPL only because I didn't really want to commit to a miner persay. At least have some exposure. What are everyone's thoughts on Barrick, Eldorodo Gold or Impact right now at these prices?

My interest is piqued in platinum after watching the arcadia stream with Deso last night. But the industrial demanding is falling no? Platinum will always be a store of value (has been since refining was economical; the japs hid a bunch of platinum all over right before US occupation), but it doesn't seem as easy to price as gold and silver.

To be honest i like the property more than the last few companies that have operated there. I was slated to work in at Bralorne in the summer of 2016 when the previous owners before Talisker were incharge of the place. They had me do a training course and everything than fired me before starting my first shift, as well as 20 other people. Turns out management had no clue what they were doing and just winged it as long as they could before corporate caught wind and was forced to clean slate the project. That companies name escapes me right now but Talisker is the new owner / operator and i am hoping they can do better than what the last crew of fuck ups did. The Bralorne and Pioneer Mines produced more gold than the California placer rush of 1849 did over their lifespans, and there is double that in the ground still, but its one of Canada's deepest deposits and its geology is challenging. IF it can be modernized i believe it could be a great mine once more, but it would need the right team to do it.

I don’t see platinum going down much in the next 6 to 12 months. In fact it looks like there’s a supply crunch coming so I could expect platinum to easily rally 20% or 30% next year. I don’t like owning physical platinum because of the premiums and the but/sell spread but there are some good miners out there although they’re all located in South Africa and Russia.

I'm really scared of the political risk. I found some open pit miners trading at net cash OTC, but I find the political situation in SA very worrisome. Has it stabilized recently, or are black Nazis still marching in the streets chanting to take over land and kill whites?

i wouldnt personally put money in South Africa until things cool down. A few miners have given up there recently due to gangsters taking over the underground workings next door and tunneling into their own operations over night, stealing everything or just getting in the way. Not worth the energy operating there with conditions like that.
