Say you bought 100 shares at 20, its currently at 18 - if the 20 call goes for 1.8 you bag 180$, if the price goes over 20 at expiration you get 2000 and your shares are called away (even if the underlying is way above say 25 -> you are capping upside for a credit). If it stays low rinse and repeat. Every time you get credit you reduce your cost basis. Example above, you now essentially bought those shares at 20-1.8 = 18.2
Obv pick the calls so you net out positive even if called away which can be tricky if the stock dumped too hard, in this case there are options:

If your shares are trading at 10 now, and you got 100 at 20 you can buy another 100, now your cost basis is 15 and you can sell 2 calls. This works if the underlying still can recover and is not garbage.

I think it will still take some time after tomorrow to process what the law means for different companies / how well different companies will be able to jump over the hurdles being created
