Short answer: even having a degree nowadays doesn't guarantee you a job, so unfortunately, I think you have to fight on two fronts to get a leg up - 1. qualifications, 2. experience with proof of work

buy oreiley's heads first java and heads first c. selftaught programmers are udually not useful for industries. the number of selftaught c0d3rZ is very high in webdev and the competition is hard because college graduates from poor countries are more skilled and cheaper. learn to program as a hobby but don't expect to become rich by wageslaving or freelancing on fivr.

in the area where i live most jobs are really underpaid whereas the technology sector pays at lowest rank 2x more. in a year i would earn 2.7 btc in a coding job. best case i would flip it to 10x and quit the wagecuck.

technology sector here pays really well. rn studying business management tho 1 year left to bachelor's degree specializing on marketing management. kinda feel scammed because this shit is really easy and repetitive.

In that case I wouldn't worry too much - it's a mickey mouse degree, but still a degree, and therefore has some market value

Follow this more specific advice - educate yourself in your own free time, and get work experience when you graduate
It'll take a few years, but in the end, I think you'll be okay

about 15 years.
