And yes, you can charge $ 3 in trading fee to open and close your lightning channel.
But as a pro trader you will be able to get a lot of money out of it that you would otherwise lose on a regular exchange. You open your lightning channel for 7 days and you can trade as much as you want for 7 days. and another nice tip: it is anonymous no one knows who you are!

But I like to pay 3dollar to exchange 500dollar and know that it stays with me at all times and not an exchange and where I have to wait hours for confirmations.

The idea is that it is slightly inflationary, each block generates 20 XSN every 1 minute. So about 10m each year. But because the rewards are constant the inflation will get lower as time progresses. In addition, there is a deflationary mechanism in that the more people there are who use the network the more XSN will get burned, as each transaction burns a small amount. I guess the idea is that the network/market will balance itself out.
