https://www.google.com/amp/s/ca.finance.yahoo.com/amphtml/news/federal-reserve-treasury-at-odds-over-letting-emergency-lending-programs-expire-222946692.html

Hypothetically gold would sell off like everything else in such a case, except on second legs down, it doesn't usually do too poorly going forward:
https://goldsilver.com/blog/how-would-gold-perform-in-a-second-stock-market-crash

I'm holding. Gold will have to dip down to $1600 before I'm in the black, when all it takes is for the Fed to step in with more QE, and everybody's fears will be confirmed, and gold shoots up to a all time high in a matter of days.

If you want to preserve and increase your purchasing power, stick to physical.

If you want to see life changing increases in your purchasing power, you need to be invested in good small cap miners before the bull run. The potential returns on commodities equities during bull runs are higher than anything i've seen in any other asset class.

crypto is unique as an asset class because its so new, so theres so many unknown elements and little history to go off. The previous bull market yielded insane returns, some of which i managed to catch. we all know almost every single crypto that exists today is literally useless vapourware, but we have very little way of knowing if we can still see another baseless hyperbull market like we saw in 16'-17'. I think this bull market that crypto is in now will be a lot more specific. the Defi hype has died down and economically shit is getting tighter in the pockets. Legitimate projects like chainlink can continue to do very well. I would be very selective about what/if any crypto's you buy.

I really like XSN. dont want to shill it, but i wrote this incase anyone is interested in having a small crypto hedge https://pastebin.com/jiMdEAN8.. If it works out than It would definitely see enormous returns.

to answer your question directly, i dont know. If we are talking broad terms over a long time period i would definitely say that silver equities would do tremendously better than most altcoins, as most of them are going to 0.

Barrick is obviously a solid company which is currently oversold due to the long consolidation in gold and the fact that Buffet sold 40% of his barrick position and NPCs are following him in this trade. Based on memeline analysis I think the barrick bottom is around 23-24 USD and it will bounce hard upward when the correction in gold ends. In conclusion at these prices the upward potential heavily outscales downward risk in my opinion.

It's really nice. I love these romantic sterling pieces of art. The details are amazing: you can see the small dents on the side in the middle picture of my image really well, left by arduous shaping of the bowl. This particular bowl, according to the man from whom I bought it, is probably of Portuguese handicraft.

Government Money Masters: Anti-Gold Videos that Thousands of Tea Party Voters Think Are Conservative

https://www.garynorth.com/public/8574.cfm

"The first video is called The Money Masters. The narrator is Bill Still. Mr. Still has written no books. He has not published scholarly articles on economic theory. There is no Wikipedia entry for him. Compared to Bill Still, the Rothschilds are publicity hounds. He has not addressed the issue of Civil Service protection for his proposed government money masters. Part 1 is here.

It took a lot of money to produce this video.

He narrates a follow-up video, The Secret of Oz.

Next, there is a PowerPoint presentation. It was produced by something called the Council on Spiritual, Psychological, Economic Renewal. I could find no books sold on its site, or anything that showed who they are or what they are promoting. There is no indication who the narrator is. He sounds young. The video is here:

Then there is Money as Debt, a combination narrative and cartoons.

The Greenbackers have never had a trained economist to defend their fiat money views. They only have books written by people with no training in economics. They do not have a scholarly journal. They do not have intellectual magazines. They never have -- not since 1874.

What they have is supporters. I know, because they keep sending me links to these videos."

>> No.24117965

>>24117743
This comment that you've quoted only attacks the Greenbackers' credibility but does not address the points of the video. I, personally, am slowly getting convinced of the idea of greenbacking, or at least the idea of a currency that isn't backed by debt. It's most important that there is an equilibrium in the supply of money (whether it is gold-backed, greenbacked, whether the money is made of plastic or wood doesn't matter to me as much) and that there is little deflation and inflation. That's what I'm beginning to think at least. The video is quite convincing.

I'm having trouble understanding whether it's countries and governments, or Central Banks that own the gold. If it's the latter, God help us because then they have the privilege of manipulating the supply as much as they want, for the Central Banks' mutual benefit

A gold standard (or any lasting commodity-backed currency) is otherwise a great idea I guess. If the currency starts being inflated or deflated there is always the option of acquiring the underlying commodity for safety from currency devaluation.
I wonder, would crypto currency be a good system after all? Considering that no single entity could mess with the supply.
>>24118789
I agree. I think that different cultures are a wonderful thing and that nothing would come of suppressing cultural differences. Though as the world progresses and traveling becomes easier some cultural ideas will inevitably be transformed or assimilated into other cultures in different areas of the world. Not sure whether that is a good thing or a bad thing, I think it's both. But get rid of different cultures altogether in one fell swoop? Ridiculous. It takes time and nobody should try to enforce cultural change, it's entirely organic and natural much like a free market

It would be great. While pondering about this conundrum, I've come to the conclusion that a currency backed by an underlying asset (such as gold) would be amazing if only the underlying asset is held in the hands of a totally 100% neutral party whose sole interest is in exchanging the asset for currency. If currency is devalued, you'd need more of that currency to exchange for the underlying asset.

What organization, or who would be this neutral party? ...Sadly I don't know. Anything and everything is corruptible by that kind of power, and others that do have interests could try to obtain such power for themselves. Maybe a decentralization is necessary... a crypto-backed currency might just be preferable. Or a system where the gold is held by multiple neutral parties, although both of those systems are probably corruptible as well.

It's an infinite problem...

The second you start using certificates/promises of gold/silver there becomes a middle man who makes the promises/exchanges reall PM's for certificates, and the whole downward spiral begins anew.

Zero reason the not use gold or silver directly as currency, anyone who suggests using promises of PM's i just trying to introduce deception/unsound practices.

It's not going to be popular in anglophone countries, and considering all the bullshit you list that the receiver would have to do— which are notably all made redundant by the mint simply putting notches in the striking collar, mind you— to ensure the coins they get aren't altered just shows why the criticism I brought up is valid.

And if you really, REALLY have to keep a smooth edge, just do lettering there, FFS. I've got circulation silver coins almost a century old with edge lettering (non-Latin, even!), and they still hold up after decades in commerce.

Because everyone lives beyond their means. This isn't the only reason for expensive housing, but it's a major one. Everybody talks about muh '50s when anyone could easily buy a car or house upfront, but when you point out the cheap cars and houses you can buy today people scoff at how small and pathetic they are. I don't have land in the country to live off of away from potential chaos, with the ability to trade my stacks for food and supplies from the local farmers nearby, etc. I probably couldn't just take my stacks to the bank to trade in, or to a coin shop (which would probably have been looted 20 times over). I can't just bring silver coins to the grocery store to buy food. And what would my suburban neighbors do with a silver coin, they probably wouldn't have anything to trade. Etc.Etc..

So is stacking physical only a beneficial investment for people who live in certain regions or circumstances?

Would I be better off just trying to trade paper silver/gold on the stock market? I'm still skeptical of crypto. So what's the solution?

Sprott ETFs are made by legends of the mining and resource industry, the best of the best, and they hold less crap. Mathmatically GLD and SLV can't hold as much gold and silver as is traded, but whether or not a default or collapse of the product comes to fruition still is up in the air; it's been speculated on for years. I personally would choose Sprott products over those. While in the end Sprott is still just a company, they've got a 10/10 reputation and haven't screwed anybody ever. It's not marketing that causes people to love the company or the people, but just interactions throughout the decades.

Nobody has done more work to refute the Greenbackers and nonsense like The Money Masters than Gary North. You can learn about their errors here:

Greenbackers are essentially advocates for MMT--radical socialists. Everything which they advocate for is based upon lies. Greenbacking has never worked. Consumer prices rose by 75% between 1861-65.

Realistically in this instance I do think we're nearing a bottom in the next 2 weeks, likely with one last massive puke and retesting of lower support. However this is coinciding with a locking down of economies again and a massive rise in covid cases, which threaten a second liquidation event and spike in dollar strength, things that are bearish for gold. So I don't know, but I'm hedging my way into oversold positions and keeping an eye on others.

Regardless stimulus is on it's way sometime in early 2021 so right before that is where the bottom will likely be if not these weeks.

CBDC are absolutely bullish for gold and if you aren't able to see beyond the surface level physical and digitial aspects of these assets then there's no hope for you. Simply ask what is the reason that they want to move to CBDC? Aren't currencies almost entirely digitalised already?
