LINK token has no necessary utility within chainlinks plans or stated goals. The only utility outlined is paying oracles, which can accept any form of payment. The token itself is a speculation that for some reason the market will want a coin that otherwise has no use

Yes. All of the fanboys focus on how useful these chainlink Oracle/data feeds will be. This may be true, but they then assume the token LINK must have this usefulness as well...when there's no evidence of that. As a market participant, I would prefer to have a token that is otherwise useful AND can also be used for paying Oracles. So virtually any other non shitcoin > LINK.

Link is the only form of payment accepted by the chain link network as it is the unit of account and the source of the transfer and call standard. No token no transfer and call.
But you can make it easier by building adaptors for your smart contracts which convert payments to link at time of settlement.
Link provides economic incentives for good behaviour. Link is paid out to node operators for completing work. Link provides proof of reserve for wrapped assets like wrapped btc and wrapped binance coin.

initially the fud was to allow accumulation but also to keep reddit out of the project and make them buy at $10+
some of the fud was ingenious such as that link was a biz shill coin. this was spread to reddit and remained a dominant narrative until the spike to $20 earlier in year
now it continues but at much less intensity in order to keep newly arrived redditors into selling early or switching in and out of coins
link is the next link

the link token is a special kind of token that is essential for paying node operators, they cannot accept anything other than link

>> No.24096754

>>24093248

To the dipshit who said LINK has no utility, try reading the technicals first. There is an abundance of utility. The entire oracle network is dependent on staking LINK as collateral and the payments are also made in LINK. Yes, payment models will be optimized that will allow Chainlink Node users to pay in the currency of their preference, but this currency will simply be converted to LINK effortlessly via code behind the curtains. Why the fuck would the Chainlink devs allow for the token to be stripped of its utility? IF WE LOSE AS INVESTORS, THE TEAM LOSES AS INVESTORS. In other words, LINK loses its utility ---> loss in interest from current and new investors ---> price dumps ---> insolvency, hypothetically. What a stupid narrative to present. That's like saying BTC is useless because you can just pay with other currencies, so it has no utility.

>currently securing more than $5B in assets and only 380MM tokens in circulation.
>overvalued
It’s basic math. The bare minimum a LINK token should be worth is about $8 that’s with zero speculation. This puts the speculative value at less than a 2x. Most tech stocks have speculative values of more than 20x, some more than 100x. LINK is doubling its fundamental value every month or two at this point. $100 is less than a year away at bare minimum. If people actually catch on, $1000 will easily happen.

link tokens are given to node operators as a reward for telling the truth and link tokens are taken away from node operators as punishment for telling a lie. there are some seemingly very difficult game theory problems here but if the team can create a robust enough set of interlocking incentive structures such that we can begin reliably establishing on-chain the truth about facts in the world — boy you're going to see some serious shit.
