So I was looking at some plots of land a half hour away from Houston, Texas and it occured to me that im pretty sure theres no laws against putting a RV on the land.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Buying plots of land and not having an address seems strange but if you start building you can register an address. Im from Massachusetts and everything is at least 5x cheaper down here.

Here is an example.

I drive for UPS. Lots of rural areas outside if Dallas. Not uncommon to see just an rv and a mailbox.

pretty sure there's a city ordinance that you need to be in a designated area for trailers despite the zoning laws. Might wanna check an area like Baycliff, I think they're really cheap over there and I'm pretty sure they aren't Harris County.

Houstonfag here. Texas' designated containment city for outsiders is Austin. Please fuck off 200 miles west from H-Town. Thank you.

here's the deal, 30 years back people started doing this all over the US and Canada
about 20 years back people started making websites telling you where you can legally do this
about 15 years ago landowners started getting sick of it and banning it
about 10 years ago the websites were directing thousands of people to the about 20 counties in the US that hadn't banned it
those counties were flooded with RV dwellers
so they banned it too.

afaik it's not legal anywhere in the US anymore. You might get away with it for a while, and different places have different rules, but just living in an RV year round without septic and water and electricity isn't legal much of anywhere in the US. Nobody wants you doing that.

This retarded FUD from a faggot who lives in a city. Some parts of the US are still a free country where you can buy some land and do whatever the fuck you want with it. I live in a trailer in an area where the minimum plot is 1.25 acres and I have several neighbors with land who live in RVs on the land. Join us, the last free folk in all the world!

I live in the mountains of colorado, with a couple thousand libertarians. We only outlawed it a couple years back, and that was because we were being flooded by trailer trash like OP and yourself. They started a couple forest fires and contaminated a couple streams and people got sick of it.

I'm all for freedom, but stop being so damn poor. A bank loan isn't slavery, you stupid motherfuckers. If you're running from the law just turn yourself in and do your time or leave the country. It's not complicated.

San Leon and Baycliff are there own counties and I think their laws are way more lax so you can do something like what you are asking. In Harris county there are Trailer Parks that are really cheap and have water lines, sewage, and things like washing machines for monthly or yearly fees worth checking out too.

Look man, starting fires is bullshit and I'm all for prosecuting people who do it. But prohibiting someone from parking their RV on their land and living in it is just a way to keep people stuck in the system. Fuck that.

we agreed, that's why we let people do it 4 months out of any year. If you own 3 separate plots of land you can move from one place to another and stay for free on your land year round.

but honestly if you can afford land you can afford a freakin septic tank and well. Then you can live there year round without any problems. But just buying the cheapest acre you can find and retiring on it with no income? Move to guatamala, they still allow that sort of thing.

Idk about Houston man, but that is a thing in El Paso. That only applies to the city itself so if you are technically outside of the city or in a small town near to it there should be no issues

zoning isn't how most counties have banned it.

it's usually building codes. Classify anything a person lives in as a dwelling and suddenly you need utilities and easements to camp on your own land.

again, if you can afford land you can at some point afford to put in a well and septic and make it legal.

just check with the local sheriff first. A lot of places will let you park for some period of time, which might be enough to save up and install utilities.

Do you have BLM or FS nearby? Because most of that land you can camp on year round for free as long as you move camp every 20 days or whatever the law is.

It becomes legal after a well and septic? Is there a place I can read up on this. Because Humble, Texas was a ideal spot to do all of this.

>It becomes legal after a well and septic?
it depends on the area. You need to talk to the building inspector where you plan on moving.

in my county all you need is a well and septic. Other places require electric and a driveway on top of that. Most places just ban it outright. It varies.
