Take the SSD cold hosting pill friend, especially if you have a tower or even a laptop.
>buy $25 SSD
>install easy Linux distro, or safely pirate Windows 10 LTSB (HWIDgen)/LTSC (KMS38)
>download XSN Core and let it sync
>encrypt your wallet
>deposit XSN
>setup MNaaS for however many MNs you want to setup
>deactivate or physically unplug the SSD from your tower
Sounds a little daunting but it's very easy. Once initial setup is out of the way, you bring in masternode rewards 24/7 from isolated cold storage.
I hook up my SSD every few weeks to let it sync, watch rewards come in, and make backups.
Then you can use your primary drive to goof off without any repercussions.

Sorry to hear that. I miss cryptopia.
It was like Livecoin - randomly went down a lot and occasionally made me nervous - but with some patience, it was always there to do non-KYC trades and it had decent trading volumes.
Grant Thornton put an update out in September
>https://www.coindesk.com/cryptopia-users-liquidators-grant-thornton
Part of me thinks they're just dragging it out as long as possible so people give up.
I got burnt by Bittrex's shady "we're gonna reset your verification back to new, break our basic KYC verification system, and freeze withdrawals from your account until you give us your ID" surprise back near the end of 2017. Ever since, I withdraw crypto from exchanges immediately.

All the Bitcoin maxis are betting on LN to make Bitcoin scale effectively and so there's been a lot of momentum put towards building up its liquidity and robustness.
A few things that would drastically improve its usability (and Stakenet DEX) are watchtowers, multi-path payments, and submarine swaps. Saves a lot of the hassle involved in opening channels, being limited to the inherent liquidity of that channel, and having to keep the client open while, say, you have buy orders posted to the DEX.
2020 has been a particularly good year for LN and 2021 will probably see a gold rush in that direction.

>Watchtowers - LN nodes delegated to monitor transactions associated with open payment channels anywhere in the lightning layer.
Let's say I want to put in a low buy order and let it sit for a few days. It's 2nd nature on any CEX. If I wanted to do that with Stakenet DEX right now, I'd basically have to leave the wallet open the whole time until my order was filled.
>Multi-path payments
Let's say you have 1 Bitcoin, you keep it the old-fashioned way in a qt wallet, and it's spread between two different wallets 50/50. You want to send .8 BTC. You get an "insufficient balance" type error, so you have to send two smaller amounts to compensate (i.e. .5 and .3 or .4/.4).
Lightning Network channels traditionally functioned in a similar manner, but multi-path payments (added in LND 0.10) allow for funds to be sent out from multiple wallets at once.
In their own words...
>The highest payment amount is now defined by the sum of all channel balances rather than the maximum.
Detailed info here: https://lightning.engineering/posts/2020-05-07-mpp/
>Submarine swaps
They allow for the sending and receiving of LN BTC without necessarily having to manage channels and they do so via HTLCs between at least 3 parties that hold different pieces of a puzzle with contingencies. They are still more on the experimental side of things but have a lot of promise.

No problem. There was indeed a major exploit within Lightning (patched in LND 0.11) that allowed malicious HTLCs to spoof genuine ones with the right prerequisites and positioning.
>A malicious peer could deliberately intercept a HTLC intended for the victim node and probe the preimage through a colluding relayed HTLC to steal the intercepted HTLC.
Full discolures of the vulnerabilities and the solutions they took to fix them are explained in detail in these links below.
https://lists.linuxfoundation.org/pipermail/lightning-dev/2020-October/002855.html
https://lists.linuxfoundation.org/pipermail/lightning-dev/2020-October/002857.html
What was patched in LND 0.11
>This vulnerability was patched in lnd v0.11.0-beta, by properly isolating the
preimage database from the invoice database according to the HTLC's next_hop
field in commit cf739f3f [3] of PR 4157 [4]. The isolation ensures that we can
only claim forwarded HTLCs as a result of learning the preimage from an outgoing
HTLC. It also fixes the privacy leak by not revealing invoice preimages unless
the node is the final destination.
Upcoming for LND 0.12
>For some time we have debated flipping the switch on requiring payment secrets
across the three major implementations. This vulnerability is further evidence to the additional safety and privacy benefits. Now almost a year since the initial deployment of payment secrets in lnd, the upcoming v0.12.0-beta release of lnd is likely to make payment secrets required by default. We would welcome other implementations to do the same.
