Which exchange should I use? Right now I'm using coinbase but I just heard that apparently you can't get your private keys on coinbase? I'm just holding crypto on coinbase right now while I wait to get my cold wallet.

unless I'm being dumb, a recent coinbase update (on Android at least) removed a lot of features. there's no longer a search function. the graphs now look like shit and adding funds from a UK bank was removed... or at least disabled when I tried on Friday. I'm sure more features have gone that I haven't found yet

Binance is one of the best exchanges, if you haven't regitered yet you can use this link for 5% discount on all trading fees:

Other than that there's Kraken and KuCoin.

if you're a burger here are the options:
>Binance.us
low trading fees and high withdrawal fees
>Kraken
fairly low trading fees and fairly high withdrawal fees
>Gemini
higher trading fees, but free withdrawals (up to a set amount)
>Coinbase (pro)
highest trading fees, decent volume, and market rate withdrawal fees
>Coinbase (non-pro)
stupid trading fees and market rate withdrawal fees.
take your pick. Also the pairs and volume for each pair vary across the different platforms.
>apparently you can't get your private keys on coinbase
when it's on their platform, they have custodial access to it. To get it into your own wallet (so that you have the private keys to your crypto) you send it off the platform to your wallet.

Gemini has lower fees than Coinbase.

Coinmetro has the lowest fees of them all and a cool looking UI. Don't get fooled into buying the XCM token, though - it's not sustainable and only 20 people use the exchange daily meaning the tokenomics are worthless and the token not really sustainable in the long term.

The exchange is pure kino however.
