Patrick is an engineer at Chainlink. Streamed a node setup with GCP demo at the Baseline conference this morning with John Wolpert and somebody from Google. John brought up a question from chat about the "fake" coffee standard (Chainlink is intended to be pegged to the price of a cup of coffee) and when John read out "Hey Patrick, someone in chat thinks the coffee standard is fake, do you want to speak on that?" They both started laughing. Patrick went on to explain that for Chainlink to work as intended the price shouldn't be over $4.50 USD and they expect it to adjust back down within a couple of weeks (as it's been designed to do). If you think I'm lying you can go to the stream yourself, it was about 35 minutes into Patrick's presentation. The link team doesn't give a shit about price, nor should they.

The thing is people have a right to be annoyed, Patrick has already said that they made mistakes with the governance token to let it get that high and they had to lose collateral fast. I have heard stories behind the scenes of running around like headless chickens as investors of so annoyed at the weekly 500k dumps to get it back to the coffee standard. For December they are stepping back to 700k dumps but I will buy back in at 4.50 as it’s so badly coded it’s easy to see it going up by accident again in feb/jan

Yeah if anything I'll buy back when it hits $4.50. I remember the breadcrumbs from about a year back saying that they failed with coding in their hard cap at $4.50 and it unintentionally bounces to $5.40, so it'll be a quick $.90 bump before it dumps again. There are far too many failures for an open source project, you'd think they'd listen to programmers telling them "hey guys there's more than a handful of critical flaws" but maybe that's asking too much. No wonder they have to expand the team. They're in over their heads. That's the second biggest sell signal to me.
