They've been VERY public about their earnings for a whole now, and I don't think the earnings will come as a surprise to any of the major investors.

The way semiconductor companies work today is not to just pump out a bunch of special silicone transistors, but rather to create specialized logic circuits. This can be anything from ALU to CPU to just stupid RAM or literally just assorted gate chips.
