I have a question, how do stocks actually make companies money beyond their initial sale? If I have a public company and I sell 100 shares for $1 each, I essentially gain $100 to invest in my company or whatever. If the value of those shares increases to $2 each, it's not like I've gained an extra $100. Even if they go up in value by $1000, I've still only gained $100.
