Here in /biz/ for whatever reason it's not a real problem though a few months ago there were /pmg/s going missing when the discussion was a bit hot and heavy about the political nature of metals.

In other news Australia is exporting record amounts of gold in 3 months since the start of this year. And, without those gold sale since the start of the year the foreign exchange reserves would be the lowest since GFC. This is interesting because gold is keeping Australia afloat - i.e. there is a sort of soft gold standard in place.

BTC people who view BTC as such, are retarded, they expect it to be just as stable/immutable/liquid as PM's when history has shown that during BTC crashes this just is not the case. They will also ignore that various BTC clones dilute the value to the point where the really is an infinite supply of differently branded BTC's

BTW people who view it as a speculative psudo currency/equity to make money or anonymous purchases are cool and brain pilled. They dont pretend its something its not though, and it wont survive like PM's have in the event of actual crisis.

usually you can tell the former by their dismissive and overly smug attitudes, while the later are smart people who hold a good portion of PM's/miners as well.

That's not super indicative of it becoming mainstream since the company has a vested interest in producing more crypto products, let me know when a bank does that

Eh, smart people are but I don't think many people even consider that there are ways out of the fiat meme. Most are too focused on paying down what debt they've accumulated and believe that assets with more inherent value are for rich people, schizos, or criminals. That's just my opinion, though.

its crashed fro 25k to 5k, and was 8k earlier this year... basically half its value (in CAD)

Its not a real equity or currency, it uses some cool tech which is neat and all, but its price is quite literally only the result of speculation. There are already better shitcoins out there, that only lack BTC's brand name, and they too can simply be rebranded an duplicated. Sure society could adopt BTC and you could pay at 7-11 for gas, but whats to stop them from also accepting the infinite BTC clones? There quite simply is no inherent value in it like a stock, or real asset, which is why its quite easy for BTC to have super crashes.

Now a digital currency akin to BTC/monero that is backed by PM's, THAT has huge potential for international commerce.
>>23807958
>That is true in the past but bitcoin is starting to make that shift into being a mainstream asset
anon.. that is precisely why it will crash, its now a mainstream thing that everyone knows about that is "100% guaranteed line only go up over time"

Again, its only going up because its a popular brand name, that never lasts as long as you think it would.

I agree, but equally pegging BTC to an asset makes it externally manipulable, which is the whole point of what Satoshi was trying to avoid. There are stablecoins backed by gold out there, like PAXG for instance, but backing creates new issues like regulation.

BTC is just an anomaly really, and I think it's considered to be valuable because it represents an idea really well, the same sort of idea that gold represents, that of sound money that allows people and the market to succeed on merit.

You have to remember these people want you dead, your family dead, your children dead... you extinguished from history and your genetic code gone. They are mentally ill and all the asylums have been shut long ago. They live among us. You can't identify them and if you can you can't send them away for your safety and their safety. This without doubt will accelerate eugenics and in the next two generations will cause a hardening like never before seen. Remember to win and remember most people are wrong - wrong about everything and anything.

I've said a few times already that gold and silver... more so silver... will be useful in the distant future if you can hold onto it and survive and that's only the start of it. There's that old saying that, 'it's great the bad times have gone, now the awful times are ahead of us.' We aren't even into the bad times yet.

Society is falling apart in the West (the former English Empire) and for them to talk about civility is telling as civility has no link to actual civilisation and neither does society. Rabbits and geese can have a society, cohesion and can be civil but you wouldn't dare think that's a civilisation. People are missing civilisation. It's been smashed to bits over the last few hundred years (over the last super cycle) and we are at the end result of it. The only way forward is total destruction and long term the destruction will be unthinkable even for the most apocalyptic White-Ethno-Right-Wing-Gold-and-Silver-Hoarding-Nazi-Racists.

Just imagine not surviving this little hump in the road let alone what's still to come in the distance. Sure, have your stack - you WILL need it but people here need to prepare for a much longer harder game.

Remember I'm long Dunder Mifflin.

How centralized was coinage in medieval Europe? I’ve heard that, for example, the process of nationalizing the banking system was a gradual process in England and Wales, and actually until the early 1900s, there were still some privately issued banknotes in circulation.

With coinage, how quickly was it centralized? Suppose I went to buy vegetables or some other daily necessity in an average market town sometime between 1400 and 1600. How likely would I be to receive standardized coins issued under Crown authority, by the Royal Mint, in my change? Could I have gotten privately minted or foreign coins, or even something else entirely instead? Would it depend where I was in the country?

(Although the way I’ve asked this question is specific to England, answers concerning other counties like France for example would also be interesting.)

I’m not saying I’ll stop buying silver, but... does it really make sense to favor the gray over the yellow metal? Really? Why so melodramatic? Fiat currency is a free market innovation born from the fact that people don't need all their gold all the time. Buy PMs will almost certainly never make you rich quickly. In order to get rich quick, which everybody including people here want, you have to be 1) a successful speculator, 2) a person who happens to be in the right place at the right time owning and selling the right assets at the right time, or 3) a person who earns a lot of money (entrepreneurship, very high-paying job).

PMs are essentially stuffing money into a mattress with the exception that PMs cannot be depreciated unlike fiat currencies. In all likelihood, you'll never end up like the Venezuelan or Zimbabwean who stuff his money into a bank or a mattress only to wake up one day and find his entire life's savings cannot even purchase one chicken egg.

When every investment choices are highly expensive, you should stay in cash and wait for a mean reversion. Trees do not grow to the sky and every unreasonably valued stock, property, collectible market throughout history has always become reasonable again, either through a crash (1929 crash, 1991 Nikkei crash, dot-com crash) or decades of stagnation/decline (Japanese property bubble). Being that all fiat cash is trash, PMs are a somewhat sane, albeit uncomfortable, place to put your assets while you wait.

If you feel more comfortable investing in actual companies that grow, then you should consider investing in an emerging markets equity fund. Jeremy Grantham and GMO are finally coming out and saying that this bubble is about to end. Grantham has recently said that it's a matter of "weeks or months, not years." His recommendation was to not have any US equities (he even suggested for those with the wherewithal to go short, "if you can stand it") and invest as much as possible in emerging markets (it will be volatile so dont' be shaken out). Specifically, Grantham is talking about emerging market value stocks, which he states are cheap at 10x earnings. The MSCI emerging market isn't that cheap at over 20x.

Be aware that the fluctuations you see in PM prices are largely a reflection of the fluctuation in paper money. PMs have fallen today because, paradoxically, the major currencies have strengthened. I guess people believe that there is a lower probability of repudiation of those currencies now that Trump's trade wars are going to be ended. Anyhow, when PMs rise in price, what's really happening is that fiat currencies decline in purchasing power. There is enough data over the past two decades that show this is true. Go to a library and look at old newspapers or magazines. You'll see the prices of cars, foods, household products, etc. Things are a lot more expensive today than they were in 2000. If they aren't and they are not a technology product, pay close attention to whether the quality of the product has declined. It almost certainly has.

But not always. Meanwhile, older things will eventually break down and require new parts. I'm not disagreeing with your philosophy on things. It's highly unethical what the corporations have done and are trying to extend. Meanwhile, it doesn't matter which political party is in charge. No one will regulate the corporations. In a sense, those support any sort of Green Deal are the most hypocritical of all as they endorse planned obsolescence, which unnecessarily creates waste.

If I can settle my situation, I'm seriously thinking about about a lathe or CNC machine. I suspect that there will be a good market for replacement parts for which the OEM either refuses to manufacture parts or sell them at prices approaching the cost to buy an entirely new product.

no shit. They violated the constitution in every way possible. That was sorta the point of treason.

I work in a world we’re people prefer cash. Most immigrants prefer cash or if electronic, debit payments. I understand the need for electronic payments for convenience. But we are prioritizing convenience. Central banks will begin to issue digital fiat and I truly believe things will only get worse. I’m not a doomsayer. I think good can come from this somehow. But I’m not optimistic. The further we get away from PMs the weaker our money has become.

So convenient that vaccine news breaks right after a biden victory. Is there a site taking bets on if it will be mandatory?

Zimbabwe used gold or, if they could get them, USD when their currency utterly cratered. Using cash has a lot of benefits that many people don't consider. Privacy, for starters. And today, in an era of cancel culture, that's more important than ever. In mainland China, the state could un-person you and all of your access to electronic payments would be terminated. What's the reason for such an action on the part of the state? Well, you misbehaved. Now go away.

I agree with you on that, but you're still retarded if you think that people will return to gold and silver for everyday purchases in the future. We'll ride the fiat train all the way down the cliff, then we'll board another one and the same ride begins again. Just keep your stack close and own physical assets that keep their value. Don't forget to have basic foodstuffs and water too
>>23815859
I agree that physical is where it's at when a currency implosion eventually happens. But when things start getting back on rails and a new currency is issued, people won't be using physical assets anymore. And I agree with your views on cash, it's important to have and I don't think we'll ever move onto fully electronic fiat

>> No.23815964

>>23815843
That's why you buy physical. 1oz gold=1oz gold always. People think that we're beyond difficulties now, that everything is stable, pure hubris. the Weimar republic was only 100 years ago, Zimbabwe and Venezuela very recent. An ounce of silver in Venezuela is seven years wages.

PMs aren't used to get rich in this system, they are there to ensure an easy ride to the next.

I hope it goes down more so I can buy more and you have a chance to re buy in.

Corona could disappear over night, and if given that the elites now have the whole world again it quite likely will, and PM's are still headed up.

Metals technically still forming an uptrend
>broke out of bull flag
>retesting the top of the channel
>higher high, higher low, etc.

Gap down usually gets filled within 13 sessions. That means back up around these prices within 2 weeks. If not then its secular down trend.

This is SILJ daily but all the metal charts look similar

Fundamentals have not changed, so basically I am buying bigly today and tomorrow.
