I agree, but equally pegging BTC to an asset makes it externally manipulable, which is the whole point of what Satoshi was trying to avoid. There are stablecoins backed by gold out there, like PAXG for instance, but backing creates new issues like regulation.

With coinage, how quickly was it centralized? Suppose I went to buy vegetables or some other daily necessity in an average market town sometime between 1400 and 1600. So where do we go from here? I personally got sick of silver a little while ago once I realized that all it does is shoot up once every 10 years and then crab for a decade EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Meanwhile gold for the most part goes up and holds its value (ignoring occasional drops in spot price like today), yeah its had its valleys but not like silver, and even if you do buy silver at whatever price and it hits $40 or $50 and you sell, your probably only making at best a 2x on your money, I know metals aren't a get rich quick scheme but this is ridiculous, for anyone out there telling themselves they're never selling and that it's for your grandkids, do you honestly think the silver will even be worth that much more when they inherit it? Anyhow, when PMs rise in price, what's really happening is that fiat currencies decline in purchasing power. There is enough data over the past two decades that show this is true. Go to a library and look at old newspapers or magazines. You'll see the prices of cars, foods, household products, etc. Things are a lot more expensive today than they were in 2000. If they aren't and they are not a technology product, pay close attention to whether the quality of the product has declined. It almost certainly has.
