Generally I'd wait and see and then roll if I am still bullish on the stock or realize some losses if not. I'm not an expert on spreads as i do predominantly trade naked puts though.

In a spread the margin BP is usually adjusted right at the start for maxloss

Depends on your broker but a spread can not really "stretch" your margin after you open it.
Like a cash secured put basically. All BP upfront. Usually. I don't know about your broker, it's better if you ask them directly.

You say you want as little gov involved as possible, but the issue is that gov intervention with heavy regulations caused many of these companies to leave manufacturing in America and head to China. Trump was trying to fix that with lessened regulations in the US and trying to equalize trade with China more.
