it's free data for facial recognition and other ML-related fuckery. regulators are scum. like some asshole electrical inspector that tells you that you need an outlet here but can't have an outlet there. they need to justify their do-nothing jobs

it's another example of brainwashing whereby people are conditioned to follow arbitrary and potentially compromising directives from people they don't even know for reasons that don't make sense. why should anyone have to do that? as a client of some service where many alternative exist, you'd think these jackasses wouldn't push their luck so far. the audacity.

it's a symptom of a society where there's not enough "real" work to go around. so people have to fill roles that do not serve a purpose. the fact that 90% of people can just not work for months at a time during covid, and the power stays on, and there's still food on the shelves in stores, is strong evidence of this. so people resort to predatory niggerish behavior because there are no selective pressures that require members of society to work toward common goals. people are given busywork just to burn time and it usually involves making someone else's life that much more difficult so they have to become a mindless automaton or do a lot of busywork themselves.

there is no mutual respect in this condition. you're a "consumer". not a client, not a customer, not a partner, but someone who must suck from the teat of the powers that be, and tolerate every other indignity foisted upon you, or be excluded from modern society as we know it.
