Bros I'm going to post this every day in this stupid thread till I finally escape.

I have a bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. Let me be a warning to u frens, don't fall for this meme. I'm a CAD monkey, I draw lines and circles. My job could easily be done from home but the field is infested with boomers and they don't allow it. If any one has advice on how to escape this hell, please help. I'm currently saving up money to go to a coding bootcamp, mostly for the networking.

Hey pal. Same situation, been applying to jobs for about a year, at least 5 a week. I’ve completely abandoned engineering positions and I’ve moved on to low paying finance and IT positions. I’ve lost all hope in engineering as a career.

It's not bad at all, it's just really mindless work compared to what I was put through in school. For my job I'm designing piping systems which just means I'm drawing lines and calling out what type of fitting to connect it a piece of equipment. I'm not really designing or doing anything.
