Honestly curious because it sounds like most of the anons here only hold/play one or two stocks.

Is that the case?

It’s a good way to start, but it is always a good plan to have 20-30 spread on an active shopping list and hold a small cache at all times for profit, efficiency of use, and real time edit out.

This article doesn't say anything I don't know. Leveraged ETFs will lose out during flat, crabbish markets. That doesn't change the fact that if the underlying is consistently up, a leveraged ETF that tracks it will be up even more. There's no magic "one day limit" that kicks in, and your argument about "depreciating returns" is just ridiculous. The gains are always enough to make up the losses and still leave you ahead; everything else is nonsense.

Fucking exactly. QQQ is a broad index of some of the best companies in the market. We're not talking about triple-leveraged commodities, or a single sector, or something like that. I'm not someone who parrots the "stocks always go up" line, but the index as a whole does, in fact, trend upwards. You can compare QQQ and TQQQ on the charts, and you'll see that even after the volatility of the last year, TQQQ leaves you miles ahead. Whatever drag it experiences is clearly insufficient to cancel out the advantages. You aren't making an argument that's consistent with reality.

Hey guys I've been writing a program in c# to process millions of entities in a very moddable way, and have been thinking of making an economic grand strategy game (real time with pause) with a hundred+ industries that all behave in different ways mechanically. As an example you can imagine that a logging industry hooks into paper and is affected by weather, climate, political decisions regarding forestry and things like that.

Would any of you be interested in this kind of aurora 4x-like spreadsheet-y simulator game?

What I'm actually worried about is the graphics. I saw a city builder/simulator game on steam come out recently that looked pretty complicated but it just visually didn't look good and I think it has less than 100 reviews (less than 3000 sales), which seemed pretty sucky.
I know factory-like games can be successful, and programming games as well (5 times more successful than puzzle games on average), but I don't see many new economy-style games on steam that aren't cookie-clicker types.

I'm thinking of having it graphically look vectorized (example https://store.steampowered.com/app/1520/DEFCON/)) to try and keep it consistent. There are also a lot of quality of life things that I want, like how in Crusader Kings 3 you can mouse over tags and they pop up windows that show what those tags mean, that can lead to more tags, etc.

Visually I'm worried, but maybe if I make something interesting it will be a "if you build it, they will come" kind of thing and I can attract an artist.

Well the benjamites were all killed for not showing up to a meeting about a concubine getting dismembered, and God wasn't involved. Afterwards to start a new tribe they kidnapped hundreds of women from some other group, killed all the men, and used the women of sex slaves so there would remain a consistent number of tribes again.

Sounds like what you ultimately need is a style of gameplay - right now you have a hook, in the form of a sophisticated economic simulation, but it's not a videogame element until it has a place in a style of videogame. Are you making Elite Dangerous, where the simulation is a background math layer that produces economic data outputs to a simplistic spaceflight simulator? Are you making factorio, where the complexity is player-constructed in its entirety? Are you making sim-city, where there's a more complex relationship between the BG sim and the game sim?
How does the player manipulate this economy?
When are you going to join us on AGDG?
Across what scope are the problems the player is expected to solve? Are you expecting them to just do basic arbitrage? Make use of more complex instruments? Devise their own increasingly complex instruments and techniques for relating to the shifting of value?

I was thinking it would be like ck2 or eu4 where you can pick the timeframe yourself, but maxed out timeframe would probably be 1960's to 2060's, or something like that. I would like there to be challenges that lock you into different times and industries for a campaign though, like one challenge could be starting at the top of the dotcom bubble and you are only "licensed" to work with businesses that are tech related. Or one where you are locked into apparel. Things like that.
