This my portfolio (old pic) and I still post FUD on GME. You faggots take this shit too personally. You'll never know who I even was last thread.

>> No.23537800

>>23537088
Personally, I use pivots and fixed risk. Usually I risk about 1% of my account, I fix this amount on Monday and keep it fixed for the week. I position myself as R / (entry - stop loss) (obviously), stop loss being set depending on structure (on a breakout, it's under the recent lows of the structure; on a bullish triangle, it's under the latest pivot low, on a 3bp, it's under the low of the 2nd or 2nd and 3rd bar, and so on). I also only trade if there's no resistance above for at least 1.25R, and prefer avoiding anything that doesn't have at least 1.5-2R headspace.
I have used all-or-nothing (you set stop loss and take profit, then let it ride), pivot-based (you update the stop loss under the latest pivot as the trade progresses, letting yourself be stopped out OR exiting on a parabolic -- this additional condition is critical to success in my experience) and bar-by-bar (every time a bar forms after the 3rd or so bar past your entry, you increase your stop loss to below the previous bar). I have my best success with AON because I very easily get exhausted, so my performance degrades very quickly throughout the day and I have to therefore keep to playing high-momentum plays.
Pivot works best if you're not fidgety, otherwise you might disrespect your plan and stop early. Since this is all stats, you end up fucking your E[R} by doing this. With pivot, you virtually always take either -1R (loss) or +3-5R (gain), but with lower win-rate.
Bar-by-bar is great if you're fidgety because you can move your stop loss quickly, so in practice you virtually never have a 1R loss, you'll maybe get -0.2R as a typical loss, but only 0.8-1.5R as a typical gain.
AON, of course, is fixed.
It all works, it depends on personality and skills (a good bbb entry is not a good pivot entry, etc.).
Most important are to stay consistent and collect meaningful statistics about your trades, then adjust as needed. But not too fast or you'll just flipflop and lose.

even the most perfect setup can fail. there's no definitive "when this happens and this happens, then this will happen", instead it's just "when this and that have happened in the past, they've done this 64% of the time on average. but that's assuming you took literally every trade" but then you do it and that year it ends up being 35% and you lost money.

idk how it isn't still just gambling where you could just as easily lose all your money as much as you could make money. i don't see what the point is in putting my money on the line if there is no real way to predict what's going to happen.

like, you can say "it's currently going down in a down trend" but that doesn't mean it'll keep going down even on the very next candle. i've experienced this countless times, where you get a perfect setup that's going well and it just DUMPS out of nowhere for no apparently reason, huge red dildo outta nowhere, because fuck you i guess. no way you could have predicted it, didn't make the setup any less valid. that could happen any time.

if i take 10 trades there's no guarantee that let's say 6 will win and 4 will lose. whether you have a bigger or smaller stop loss (and thus a bigger or smaller target, respectively), it doesn't matter, price can still just as easily hit your risk as it could hit your reward, know what i mean?

same goes for 1:2, 1:3, or some combination, there's no actual predictive power. there's no real guarantee that you'll actually win enough with whatever the risk:reward is to make it profitable given whatever setup your using is.

You obviously don't know what trading is or does, sorry. Learn the following topics IN ORDER:
- Risk management. Protip: you don't know what this is or does.
- Tracking your results.
- Context (multiple timeframe analysis, relative strength/weakness, trend).
- ONE pattern. Not two patterns. Not 10 patterns. ONE (1) pattern.
- Backtesting.
Then,
- Backtest the ONE pattern
- WHEN you fail (because you obviously will given your posts), go back to the material you used to learn the pattern.
- Read the material again.
- Identify why you're failing.
- Correct the first mistake.
- Backtest.
- Rinse, repeat until it actually works.
Perfect patterns virtually never fail. As in they succeed probably around 99% of the time.
They are also quite rare, maybe you see one perfect pattern in 3 days. Not enough to trade profitably while maintaining proper risk.

AFTER ALL THIS IS DONE
Not before.
NOT DURING.
AFTER.
You can start testing this on a paper account, then on a live account with $10 risk, then with higher risk.
AFTER THIS
If you are profitable, AND ONLY IF THAT IS THE CASE, you get to learn a handful of additional pattern. As a beginner, you shouldn't bother trading more than 4 patterns at any time, and 2-3 should be the max you should really be trying to master.

So much is obvious, the problem is that if the underlying moves 4% in one month (not uncommon even in normal markets, some months up and some months down yield you your year-end result, just as you can move 1% intraday yet end up with an average daily move of only 0.1%), you get exercised, failing the first condition from the poster, and that if the stock moves only 0.6% in a month, you would still be selling just 5 days before expiration, which is a really bad time to sell since you're looking to make an extra 40% profit in at most 1/4 the time it took to make 60%. Clearly you should therefore hold. The more the stock moves up, the longer you have to wait before you're allowed to sell, and a 0.6% monthly move is 7.2% a year, far below market. You don't want to hold such a stock in the first place (unless as part of the wheel, though that's still dubious, or the triple-income wheel (same but the underlying is divvy stocks and you stop selling options around divvy time and resume after).

So basically, there is no time where you will hit 60% and not take 100%, practically speaking (hence 60% is not achievable, and that's purely a consequence of going only 4% out), and moreover you'll probably be exercised 2-4 times a year even if you choose a particularly mild stock, which you really shouldn't when you could benefit from growth while scraping some bonuses from selling calls on top of that.

You only get exercised at exp. And you NEVER actually get exercised because you close the option before that. With the stock position if need be. The only time you ever get assigned is a planned phase out of the position.

An option writing strategy that is so OTM that the chance of going ITM is non existent is not viable in any sense unless you are happy getting 2 dollars for that 430 SPY call.
>and that if the stock moves only 0.6% in a month, you would still be selling just 5 days before expiration, which is a really bad time to sell since you're looking to make an extra 40% profit in at most 1/4 the time it took to make 60%.
And Backtesting shows that closing at 50% is the most profitable strategy long term because it takes one good day to fuck you over. Which becomes ever more likely with a good stock that is crabbing.

>The more the stock moves up, the longer you have to wait before you're allowed to sell, and a 0.6% monthly move is 7.2% a year, far below market.
Why would you write covered calls on a stock you expect to vastly outperform the market? Makes little sense desu.

>So basically, there is no time where you will hit 60% and not take 100%, practically speaking
No offense, but I'd advise you to read some of the stuff brokers like Tastyworks or sites like Alpha put out who backtest that in detail and all come to the same conclusion.
3-5% OTM, 30 days DTE, Closing between 50 and 60% at least for SPY. Don't trade 20% OTM options or ATM options believing them to be free money.

>You only get exercised at exp
That's only true for european-style options. For american (which are the only options worth playing), you can get exercised anytime, and in practice you do get exercised unless you're very, very lucky.

>An option writing strategy that is so OTM that the chance of going ITM is non existent is not viable in any sense unless you are happy getting 2 dollars for that 430 SPY call.
That is true, but also not anything that was discussed in the original post, and also an extreme position where there is a middleground between being exercised every month and making $2 a month.

>And Backtesting shows that closing at 50% is the most profitable strategy long term
It's 50% time-value, dumbass, not 50% flat. You never reach this at 4% otm. The best you get is 25% until the day of expiration where it goes all the way to 100%. That's the main point that shows you don't know what you're talking about.

>Why would you write covered calls on a stock you expect to vastly outperform the market? Makes little sense desu.
It makes perfect sense: you capture the growth, plus bonus upside. You wouldn't want a stock that underperforms the market, because then your premium won't usually close the gap, let alone outpace it. So at the very least you would like a stock that matches the market to get some alpha out of it.
What you don't want is a stock that is highly volatile, that you don't understand. If you do understand it, no problem though. Volatility will boost your gains because high vola = high iv = high premium. If it's not volatile, you don't need to understand it, but it surely won't beat the market, and there will be little premium, thus you'll just be better off buying SPY (and selling CC on it while at it).

So? How is that any worse than anime girls being brutally chopped up and murdered? Look at my worst you might watch me organize a bukkake shoot with some Asian skank (consensual at that too) but with reluctant kneepad girl you might just find him murdering you or your gf and wearing her skin while listening to "Goodbye Horses." That's not even mentioning that dickhead who used to post here talking about bringing crack whores over and beating them.

Nope, just averaging down. I see it as a long play, plus the divvy is just getting sweeter and sweeter if we ever return back to normal. I think at this point the divvy has paid off 30% of my losses. Probably going to buy some more tomorrow. I don't think the earnings where too surprising, if anything the run up to earnings was silly. They exited their "riskier" loans a while ago. Also the boom in origination is helping ease the shitty rates. I'll really consider selling if rates don't move in 5 years or something. Which is likely.

When they announced announced how much cash and debt they had during their Q2 earnings call, that was enough for me to throw more money in. I still believe in the 20$ estimate, but I don't expect anything serious from this stock in terms of it being treated like an investment and not a shitcoin until the business starts reporting earnings numbers that back the idea they have a place in the market.

I believe there is a place in the market for a dedicated games and gaming paraphernalia store. But that store doesn't have to be GME and I have spent a long time disappointed in holding some of it as I have been an investor waiting for this moment for almost 2 years now.
