firstly, it gives you a % of the team's income. so currently you get about 2 link per fortnight which from the node that the team runs

this will expand in the future as the team is doing/will be doing managed nodes for other parties - it's a cut of _all_ their income
secondly, it will give you priority to stake on their platform when link staking goes live. my main reason for getting it initially was realising that running a node will be tough (not just running server infrastructure but carving out a niche, negoating api access etc.)
so yeah, instead of your link sitting around, you be able to put some of it to work early on. remember that link payouts will be higher initially (as usd value will be lower) so that will pay off nicely long term
but yeah, be interesting to see what the derivates and strategies brings

I've unironically been an advocate for erc 20 in the telegram channel and have private chats with a couple of devs of linkpool and have been asking them to look into that solution since early 2019. Ah but LP has pretty much always maintained being 2-3k LINK per share it is always in this range and your LINK does not give ownership in a node. A personal node will not be able to compete against Linkpool or T-systems, and so the only way to gain exposure to it is by owning LP.

At current rates if you trade 2k LINK for 1 LP that will print out 2k LINK in about 40 years, but this is very early stages of the network, it is possible this could be paying more like 1k LINK per year per LP, which would clearly be better than holding LINK.

It's because you're sending a message to the Linkpool contract to change the owner of the tokens from one wallet to the next. How transferring works scared me so much that I kept all my LP on metamask for over a year and a half. On the positive side since it is a smartcontract that says you're the owner a hacker would need to get into your wallet and then sign the tokens over to someone else so it is very secure.

There are 4000 shares in total with 1000 circulating. If we assume 90ETH per LINK then:
Market cap as per circulating supply: $36m
Market cap as per total supply: $144m
So it really isn't that high but with it's smallest unit at 0.04ETH it makes it seem like it. After it is converted to an ERC-20 the supply will be increased to say 100,000 or something which will make it much easier to trade (and be listed). Existing holders will just get it airdropped with their amount multiplied by the increase to the supply.
