Do you need to be good at high level mathematics to be a good crypto investor?

I have 117 IQ math ability, can only take Algebra 2. I have only bought 1 2x.

I have an 80%-90% success rate with stocks, but only a 65% success rate with crypto.

If you are bad at math, can you win in the crypto field?

math phd's are typically the highest earners in crypto bro, don't even think about it seriously if you don't have a math phd

Also my real IQ is 174.
But I am still worried that it loses to people that are good at math.

Algebra is all you need to study finance.

Definitely not high level. Just understanding percentages puts you in the top 1% and should be enough

You only need some spreadsheet and basic math knowledge to be a good investor.
Math won't help with pajeet scams

Nah your model shouldnt be purely math based unless youre programming bots. Elsewise you gotta factor in HYPE and MEMES.

It's the opposite: being good at math generally makes you worse at investing, especially in an irrational and volatile market like crypto.

Why? Because in reality, there is no equation or algorithm that can help you reliably predict or time the market. But if you're good enough at math to make predictions based on some model e.g. Black-Sholes then you might *convince* yourself that you found a way to beat the market, whereas your average IQ midwit wouldn't even try. Then you fuck yourself hard when your model turns out to be bunk.

Myron Scholes himself got caught in this trap and lost five billion dollars in four months:

The only known counter-example may be Renaissance Technologies but they have been doing this for decades and only hire the absolute best of the best from MIT and Courant:

The most valuable qualities for succeeding in crypto are: patience and the ability to stomach short term paper losses. These are infinitely more important than a big brained IQ or ability to parse high level abstract math concepts.

Ignore people crowing about their 10x every week, in any sizable market there will always be winners and losers. The winners will always crow about their prescience and the losers will always keep quiet about their losses until they turn into wins. It's an extremely bad signal to gauge your own relative success on.
