can anyone explain to me why wages are so abysmal? Who can survive on $11/hour when rents are $2,000 a month?

Wages are abysmal but if you make $11 an hour you shouldn’t live in a $2000 a month place. You should live with parents or roommates.

Survival in the Western hemisphere is only possible by the family unit establishing multigenerational households. Whole families should be living together in big large family houses where everyone pitches in for the family good. It's literally personal communism practiced by immigrant (successful) communities throughout America. Literally pack a whole house with your kin. If you cant keep a home with your kin then you sure as shit wont keep your country

this

don't fall for the "live on your own" shaming tactics. even if you can easily afford to live on your own, an extra $12-24k a year saved on rent and put towards investments will mean you can retire 20 years earlier.

I mean Jesus dude, $11 an hour is the lowest rung on the economic ladder. If that’s what you expect your entire working career to be, you are basically saying “I will never try to be more valuable to anyone than I am right now.” Everyone has to start somewhere, no shame in that, but when I see a 50 year old guy working for minimum wage, I know something has gone seriously wrong in his life. So yeah, I guess. Roommates or parents for the rest of your life or until you learn something more valuable.

It's not just America, Australia is like this too but the wages are higher. Chinks are buying up all the housing here so rent is quickly going up even higher

Housing costs are high due to past improvement in credit lending (ie, banks can lend 10 times their actual holdings, plus legislation allows for taxpayers to bail out banks when they make bad decisions). This wont last forever.

Personally I started out at $10/hour working carpentry for an unlicensed, non-permit using (based) contractor straight out of high school. Working for the same guy now three years later at $15/hour. We live in a low income area of the US so this is rather good for having entered the job with no skills and no degree. $10/hour is realistically impossible to sustain yourself wholly in any part of the US unless you have secondary avenues of income(unlikely for zoomers unless you are whoring yourself for video streaming sites). The unfortunate reality is America is in the shit, and you will have to room with bastards or be homeless for a while. If you have a place to live (parents/ friends who have invited you to room with them) you will not be poor. Suck up your pride, or [if parents] try your hardest to explain to those retarded boomers that intergenerational housing is based and you can take care of yardwork. Get a rice cooker and frozen chicken tendies.
If you smoke weed that you bought, don't ever discuss finances, you are a child and rich.
