Alright so nows a decent time to ask this question. What's the difference between an "explorer" and a "producer" of mining stocks and how does this play out when it comes to stock value? Do explorers have a goal of eventually becoming a producer? Or do they just get land, assay it, and then sell it to a new company? Im trying to figure out how to best play these stocks... Seems like these exploration companies hold land for several years and never really do anything with it..... Im worried about investing jnto "explorers" if they never actually produce anything. We want producers right?

your thinking is correct, explorers fall into two catagories, one side are exploring ground that they then prove up option, sell or get bought out by a larger company. The other side find a productive location or two, and upgrade them and find a partner to setup a mine with. Its rare that a company actually starts off with a property and builds a mine on its own as the costs are huge and regulations are bonkers. You need help and outside money to help get going.

Explorers are the backbone of mining, as they find the ground the big guys want to work. They are also the riskiest. I do try and put you guys on the better companies or pieces of ground when I can, and the market does this as well, weeding out the garbage from the companies that have a chance.

Pan man again to the rescue. I swear there needs to be a Pan Man donation fund here. If not there will be.

So whats the best way to profit off explorers and should they be avoided if you are looking to make stock gains? Is it wise to stick with producers instead? What happens if a company gets bought out when you own the stock? Does it become worthless? Do they give you a shit deal "compensation payment" or something? Im a little worried because i realized the majority of my portfolio is explorers with little producer exposure.

You can make fantastic gains riding the highs and lows of junior explorers if your timing is right but its very risky. You need to be in tune with the projects your buying into and understand what they are doing or talking about in pressers and on the ground. Also always remember in the real world very few exploration projects become full scale mines, this is a bit off set this time around though, far more small scale projects will likely appear from this market than in previous years.

Producers are better as they have a stable income from being a producer, however remember most producers also have exploration projects on going, either for future production or with off shoots exploring territory for other plans. All of these options though are still at the whims of the metals markets and have to plan accordingly.

As for if a company gets bought out, many things can happen. Shares in the junior often get converted into shares of the new company or are compensated for in other ways. Its usually a good thing for a company to be bought out as it usually means ramped up exploration efforts on that property or bigger plans like permitting and mining.

If your concerned about your portfolio, do your research and rebuild it. I can only go so far though, do not take my words as gospel, I am only a prospector and miner. I am not the CEO or lead geo. Do your own research and decide for yourself.

Tinka is a good buy but I think there are probably better South American silver explorers. They have a good land package but I fear that covid will cause them more headaches in the coming months as well as the winter season will slow them down. Impact is a solid option, and Skeena will forever be one of my top picks for a junior explorer to invest in. They own one of canada's most productive past producing mines, and keep getting fantastic drill results.

The juniors stock will rise (usually) and if you want out than you leave on that high. >...So you're not an engineer? Workforce then I guess
I'm a contractor, I own a business that employs engineers and scientists and labor.

Our typical job will involve either a mining company or a government agency overseeing mining calling for bids on removing a pile of hazardous waste, usually mine tailings or sludge from mine water treatment. Sometimes things like barrels of cyanide or just contaminated equipment or trash.

I send out scientists (mostly students) to sample the waste and determine extent, location, and concentration of the hazard. I then work with a team of engineers to design a remedy, usually removal but sometimes in-situ capping. Then I bring in a team with equipment to execute the remedy, handling administration, compliance, COC, and subcontracting transportation and disposal.

This is all very normal environmental contracting stuff, the only thing that makes my company interesting is that we're certified to work on industrial mine sites, which is a relatively rare and niche sort of specialization. We are a team of people licensed to engage in industrial mining in the US, and many of us have.

I personally am not an engineer or a laborer. I run a company. That's all. I don't even manage it. I'm just the boss, the final word on questions of strategy and direction. I am interested in what my firm does, and I'll usually visit job sites, but I'm essentially retired and have been for decades now.

the upshot of all of that is I've worked for companies like Newmont, ASARCO, Freeport, Anglo, Thyssen, Jacobs, Ames Construction,

as well as government agencies like the EPA, BOR, DOI, BLM, DoD, etc.

I hold credentials with OSHA and MSHA that nobody here will ever need or want.

I am a mining insider. Not like Pan Man, but I do work in mining. Mostly with large global miners and the Federal government, but sometimes with juniors or smaller stakeholders. I have 30 years in the mining industry, and a solid insider's view as a miner and an outsider's critical view as a pragmatist that makes money off of remediation rather than production. I don't usually share /pmg/'s rosy view towards miners, but that's because I'm one of the firms regularly hired to clean up when they go broke. And often as not hired to clean up when they don't go broke. But people like me and the clients I work for are a drag on production and performance in both junior and global miners. I've seen lots of mining companies go bankrupt, even in bull runs. I've also seen companies make billions in bad markets. But at some level mining turns into a balancing act between debt and production that most here simply can't imagine. Millions of dollars change hands in a single day in a single company. You guys invest in production. I've made millions in reclamation. I'm neutral. I see the risks in metals and hedge by working the compliance end rather than production.

the other problem is dilution

we've had good luck with plasma arc wastestream management in canada and the uk, but that requires ~80% organics to power the plasma arc and the average americans trash can contains enough mercury, lead and cadmium to clog a stackgas filter long before the electronics scrap ever hits it.

so we wind up atomizing gold, silver, plat group, and rare earths and shooting them into the atmosphere alongside some very nasty heavy metals.

Another news release, this one from DV.

DOLLY VARDEN ANNOUNCES $5M FLOW-THROUGH PRIVATE PLACEMENT FINANCING

October 22, 2020 – Vancouver, BC: Dolly Varden Silver Corporation (TSXV: DV | U.S.: DOLLF) (the "Company" or "Dolly Varden") is pleased to announce that the Company intends to undertake a private placement financing (the "Offering") to raise gross proceeds of up to $5 million from the sale of up to 5 million common shares that qualify as "flow-through shares" as defined under the Income Tax Act (Canada) at a price of $1.00 per share (the “Offered Shares”).

“We have been very encouraged with recent drilling success, particularly with step out high-grade silver intercepts targeting extension of the Torbrit deposit. Once again, we are very grateful to our institutional shareholders who have continued to enable us to advance our high-grade silver project. “commented Shawn Khunkhun, Chief Executive Officer of the Company.

The proceeds raised by the Company from the sale of the Offered Shares will be used to incur eligible "Canadian exploration expenses" that are "flow-through mining expenditures" (as such terms are defined in the Income Tax Act (Canada), related to exploration of the Company's mineral properties located in British Columbia.

Eventus Capital Corp. and Mackie Research Capital Corp. have been appointed as finders in connection with the Offering. The Company may pay a cash finder's fee of 6% of the gross proceeds received by the Company from investors introduced to the Company by such finders.

One tip I've got for people looking at drill results is you gotta visualise the orebody the drill results are representing, the long sections and plan views are good for this.

One of the best drill results I've seen was something like 15m at 4% nickel, not very impressive at first glance, but looking at the whole announcement it was intersecting the top of an EM conductor representing an orebody 200m wide and over 1km long, you get the picture that this is something that is like the size of a football stadium, not some narrow vein

You can get some intersections that are bigger eg 30m at 5/gt gold but then you look at the plan view of the drilling and its only the fat section of an orebody with a footprint of a few hundred square meters, or even worse a 'director special' which is a hole angled on purpose to show a thick intersection, eg drilling top down through a narrow vertical orebody

Yeah if it were obvious to everyone then scrapping wouldn't be possible. I'm working on a noob's guide to silver scrapping that should be helpful, it's easy once you understand a few basic parameters.

I send scrap in for ingot return which costs more than just selling for dollars (which I don't want). Depending on to who and how much weight you have you might get 88-97% of spot payout for selling directly, for my ingots they take 8-12% of the silver weight as their fee for making them so I make sure my buy prices are low enough to yield sub-$20 silver after all costs and fees.

GENTLEMEN!

As a poorfag, i want to create a portfolio that has as much leverdge on the silver price without any of the drawback of bullshit financial contracts and empty paper. from everything i've read, silver miners seem to be the best option. specifically junior miners/explorers. So ive picked my 3 favourite silver small caps : bayhorse, klondike, pacifico

Im going to split 9k between the three. If silver is anywhere near as bullish as i think it is i should see a minimum of 10x returns on these collectively.

thoughts?

>> No.23440567

The price movements of these microcaps is literally nonsense right now, unless there is corresponding news about the company or the jurisdiction in which their territory resides. For my own sanity, I try to pay little attention to the prices, and more towards just staying abreast of any developments about these mining companies. Whether something like Bayhorse goes up or down on a day when there is no catalyst event or major price change for silver, is pretty irrelevant IMHO.

Honest hard work and preparation for the uncertain future will not only be the best way to secure your future but also instill the discipline and wisdom to actually grow your wealth and perhaps find yourself quite rich when all this fiat death/reset business is over with. The thunderbolt moment for me was (blogpost aside of my life collapsing), I noticed that chicken had doubled in price at Walmart. I knew if Walmart, with all its loopholes and poor labor policies and chinese products couldn't fight inflation, then nothing was going to. I have always been slightly financially oriented, I always tried to make my money work for me, but in this climate my money is a liability.

So, I investigated silver on my own, and stumbled in these threads on accident. It paired up nicely. Started in August near the high point, unfortunately, but I can sit on it forever.

Ill be nice though,
TLDR version is that flow through financing is something available in canada.

Basically the company can issue new shares at a higher price because whoever buys those shares can deduct them from taxes.

Yes it is issuing new shares, so yes it is dilution.

yeah I just think they are spreading them selves way to thinly, their management is already heavily understaffed according to pan man. More properties means more Cap Ex, which means more share dilution to even have a chance to produce.

Meanwhile they only do 50 TPD and have a max of 200TPD....

I get why they are buying more property, but right now is the time to ramp up production in my opinion.

My main concern is all the "buy BHS" people just make claims like "its a 10 bagger" "it will 100x" and then disappear when asked a simple question like why? This combined with actions from management that in my opinion were hype moves (stoppages ect) it makes me very wary, and is why I took my money out of BHS a while ago.

Prospector's Gold & Gems in Fort Collins, CO. Yes there is always more TA that can be done. What you are describing is a penant- although you really should be more accurate with your memelines if you plan on using them for making trading decisions.
Regardless it will stay in the trend, and once it hits the squeeze point (if still in the trend) the commodity will NEED to choose either up or down.
But as you can see in pic related this penant/consolidation doesn't even begin to get close to the current trend until a few weeks from now, which is why I have left it out of my TA (as it is not really relevant yet)

that is one factor to look at, but do you know the AISC to extract each of those OZ's?
Are they even producing? If so how many oz per year can they produce at that AISC?
If not, when will they be producing, is it a pipedream or no? will they be diluting their shares or no?

If you are going to invest thousands or tens of thousands of dollars you need to put in the time. I know the PM bull run will increase most miners, but some will still go belly up before or during that, and some will turn your 1k into 10k, some into 100k or more, so it is worth it to research.

Pic related is why aurcana is now my largest position.
$10.71 AISC per AG Eq oz
able to produce 3.1 million AG eq oz per year
32 million oz M+I (so far) so at least 10 years of production, realistically many more
Equipment in place
competent management
permits in place
as of today, last leg of financing in place (ie no dilution)
and they have well organized investors packets + PR which is sadly not as common as one would think

Bro...You were went to the cleaners. This sounds like the modern women which pumps and dumps men faster than any bad crypto goes on biz. Never be tempted by sweet words if you try to get love again since it is like honey. It tastes sweet until she turns of the heat, and it gets cold and hard. You will not know how you got in there once you realized you were trapped in her viscus walls. You got a good head on your shoulders, and you know how it goes when you see someone not check for an ied on patrol. You make that mistake one with a battle buddy, and move on knowing it can happen again. You can make it from it fren. Do not worry about the short term loss. Think about the issue as you taking a taste of what is to come with the dollar reset. The thing is, the women has no idea how bad things will be for her when she can not run the carousel again, and will beg you to take her back since she was 'dumb' and 'stupid' for stealing everything from you. Stay strong friend. Silver holds more value than mansions and vehicles since you can look at ancient civilization structures that are 3 feet in the ground. How valuable is that compared to silver and knowledge.
TLDR: Stay strong fren. We are here for you. Just hold on.

>I do want to make a killing

Yes of course so do we all, not trying to split hairs but I read other anon as saying "I'm not a greedy moonboi". I want to "make a killing" too but am fully prepared to wait and work for years or even decades to see it play out. I've lived a good and interesting life at 32, but have sweet intelligent babies to care for now at a time when the future has never looked so terribly grim. The most sacred duty and deepest instinct as a father is to exhaust all abilities to protect their present and secure their futures with every physical and intellectual resource I can muster.
PMG has been a godsend to that end so I try to reciprocate by helping teach about scrapping but one is limited to whatever pops up on eBay or at sales, whereas learning about mining companies and how their stocks move gives one much more leverage/power than knowing how to scrounge up $15 ounces here and there. /blogpost.

>>23446234
You've got some golden bootstraps fren, definitely gonna make it. Sorry about the horrible wife but getting rid of someone so dishonest and untrustworthy just BEFORE everything hits the fan will probably be looked back upon as among the greatest strokes of luck in your life.

I live in texas but a simple google search should do you well. Look for wholesale beef suppliers and call around. Ask restaurants who supplies them their meat. Call and make an order but be prepared to buy at least 50 pounds and freeze it. It takes a little bit of research but not nearly as much research as stocks take lol. I get choice/prime beef here in texas for $2.80 a pound and it goes for 16$ at the grocery store. I buy 100 pounds at a time and freeze it and it is the sexiest fucking meat youve ever seen. My place does whole sale eggs too. I get 15dozen for twelve bucks.

Dang anon. That is so hot of a marbling. This is true for any anon since lockdown really hurt butchers, and other food product since they have a surplus, and will sell sub-market since restaurants are not taking as much as they should rn due to lockdown and less consumer spending.

Not that anon but you don't really get "bulk tenderloin", the price cuts come in because you are buying an assortment of steaks , roasts , stewing beef, ground beef etc that the overall cost per pound drops drastically then buying two steaks at fucking costco or superstore etc

Cheapies detected. Hello, based department.
>>23446814
Based on how the market is, unless you see massive amount of pressure from scamex or a massive ore body of millions of oz hits the market. $23 silver is the lowest it can go from now on due to liquidity and support. I see getting silver at a range of $26-35 is massively undervalued compared to the market targeting a stabilization point at $35.5-$50 spot price.

Pork is a vegetable in my country. Last year an American visited and we were at a cafe and they wanted something vegan to eat. He orders a vegan sandwich... and it had lard spread and slices of bacon in it. Admittedly it did have onion, lettuce and tomato.
