Weren't people sticking with 40k as the average wage? More people are going part time in pursuit of 'lifestyle' so it's not such a surprise. I cut back to two nights a week because I was so sick of working. It's a sign of prosperity that we can do this and still have extra money to invest and consoom with. I'll start worrying when people are working 40 hours a week and more but the median wage is still low. Millennials just have different priorities than boomers.
