I have no idea, but it did in the past, based on nothing but hype, without a working product. ADA has a working product right now, with more coming in the Goguen era.

Cardano is good and has more than half of the origonal Ethereum Autism behind it. It arguably has the better autism, because it was literally founded when said autists REEEEEEEEE'd at moneyskelly "selling out" the ETH community in the fork that also eventually led to ETC.

As a project, it's legit, and the research behind the protocol is also legit.

The one problem, of course, is that it's an old-dog's game that has no good testing against it yet, 5 years into smart contracts being a thing.

I won;t criticize it for being a scam, but when autists go to the grindstone for 5 years on a product that they don't develop in-production, they have a way of coming back up for air with the perfect product for 5 years ago.

That being said, it's got a fucking stupid network effect for a system that doesn't even have working contracts on mainnet, so if anything will gain adoption and start edging out ETH, it's be Cardano.
