I truly believe that when lending crosses over into usury is when the borrower has paid off the original principal perhaps many times over but still has a huge balance

Obviously in the OP image this is not the case as she hasn't even paid off the principal amount and she just either couldn't save or couldn't do math right when she took on the loan

However I think loans should also be agreed upon like investments, taking into account the time value of money
If the lender gets their money in the timeframe agreed upon, then a small amount of interest is paid, (as it goes now) and if they don't get their money in the timeframe agreed upon then they get to take more from the borrower in the form of interest for the borrower having forcibly opportunity cost'd their money away
However, I think loans should come with an eventual "balance cap", or an amount of money that the lender will be satisfied with receiving, basically no matter the timeline
Minimum payments could prevent people from simply not paying anything and then going bankrupt when it comes time to pay the $60,000 you owe on your $12,000 loan 50 years from now

I have the money for it, I already have a nice house with a good payment. other than dental insurance, I have pretty much everything I need. I'm wondering if I should buy this car. It's like all I ever wanted. I was gonna get a Ferrari California for 74k but it's got 30k mils on it and the belt service is 5k-7k every four years. the Jag comes with 5 year 60k warranty and complimentary oil changes. Talk to me guys, tell me what I should do with it instead. (I'm gonna post this in a couple threads to see what responses I get). Ty for your time.

Imagine actually paying your student loans. I'm a physician and have been making over $200k the past 5 years. I have 1 million dollars of student loan debt and I've only paid back $200 this entire time. Unsecured Debt is a spook and I feel no sympathy for retards who actually pay their loans. Another based strategy is to file for bankruptcy if you're ever getting garnished. Even if you renig, you're income can't be touched for 12 months and you could just do it again. Once I have over a million saved, I'm filing for SSDI and then getting a disability discharge and like that *snaps fingers* my debt will be gone.

Yep. Perhaps I find myself becoming less lolbert or I'm just bitter because I have so much debt myself but college is so shit. Our schools are worse than Europe, yet we pay more, and meanwhile companies cry they can't find any labor so they get an H1B or offshore to pay Pajeet pennies to do work that the industry forces Americans to have degrees for yet let's pajeet do it without any training. But then all the boomers are gonna die and there won't be any engineers because they wanted to pay pajeet.

I really don't know how anybody can say "this is fine" when we are already so close to a bubble pop. Yet we still encourage the populace from birth to go to school and get a good degree. Companies can continue to tighten the vice grip because we need the cash and if we don't play ball then they pay pajeet who requires no health benefits or otherwise. Just think it through. You just received a $100k+ windfall. Your net worth (assuming house is paid off and no other debt) is now around $400k. You want to spend almost 25% of your net worth on a ridiculously expensive luxury car that will depreciate the moment it leaves the dealer, while you already own a $35k car. See the issue here? You should be buying appreciating assets to grow your wealth.

There is nothing wrong with treating yourself to nice things, but don't go overboard. Spending like 5%-10% of your net worth on a status symbol is sorta doable. Saying "I don't know what else to spend it on" is literally one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. Buy stocks, bonds, precious metals, ammo, guns. Whatever the fuck. Why though? When you've got $30k of expendable income you don't put it all on shitcoins anon. Maybe 3K can go on shitcoins with the knowledge you'll likely lose it. Put the rest on top 10 coins - I would go for LINK, ETH, BTC in that order. If you need a quality lowcap alt I recommend Bidao (BID), very promising fundamentals and chart setup.

Or I can get a 7 year 110k warranty for like an extra 5k and not have to worry for a lot longer. tbqh I'm thinking of investing the money instead now. I still really want this fucking car. it's basically a blowjob machine with wheels.

Wouldn't all these "based strategies" become known when it's time to get your license or hospital privileges? Wouldn't there be some ethics board or some other body that would literally fuck you out of a lucrative profession that would let you pay off your loans in a few years anyway? Or are you a "physician" in the sense that people pay you to put drugs into their bodies and/or cut them up as needed?

>Once I have over a million saved, I'm filing for SSDI and then getting a disability discharge
you can't file for bankruptcy with a million in assets. if the bankruptcy court allowed you to file bankruptcy (they wouldn't) they would first require you to liquidate your assets and use those assets to pay off the debt unless it's exempted (most of it won't be exempted even if that "million saved" was entirely home equity.)

Big part of this thread is you asking for financial advice about what to do with 200k, 100k of which is a windfall unlikely to recur. It frankly does not fucking matter what "they" charge for mowing the lawn in your neighborhood. Someone in your financial condition should be mowing his own lawn, unless you can spend that time making significantly more money.
If you recognize that you are not that good at making money with the stock market by picking stocks, then it's true - but then you can let your money make you money. Your $200k is much better at making you money than you are. So don't give it to a fucking car or a fucking lawnmower. These items, cool as they are, suck at making money even worse than you do. And I say this with love, anon.
