The stimulus talks have broken down. Monday the Senate will begin the Barrett confirmation hearings - all attention & political capital will be spent on the confirmation; there is no time to reach a stimulus deal. Senators & Representatives are now focused on ensuring they & their party gets re-elected.
The last stimulus checks took 19 days to send out after being passed - we are now 23 days out. If a stimulus were to somehow be miraculously passed, it would need to be before Thursday to get it in the hands of voters. The Barrett hearings go from Monday to Thursday. Why would Senators & Representatives want to pass a stimulus if their voters had zero chance of receiving it before the elections?
The market has been propped up by LEGO string & pixie dust for the last week on 'fake' posturing, that each side is looking for a deal.
Pelosi doesn't want a deal. She wouldn't have put all the poison pills in the 2.2 trillion bill if she didn't
>checks to illegal immigrants
(apparently Mnuchin is now approving of this)
>voter ID illegal nationwide
>election requirements
There is no chance the House will be emergency recalled a SECOND time, after being recalled for the post office funding debacle. We are too close to the election - people are campaigning.
What does this mean for the market?
From what I've read, the consensus was that the market had priced in a $1.5 trillion stimulus.. this is not going to happen until probably November 16-20, but will most likely be ~$2 trillion --- larger stimulus, but further out..
We already heard Powell speak at NABE on the importance of stimulus..
Can the charade continue, or will this week the market sell-off as it realizes no stimulus for at least 6 weeks?

I also would hesitate to get in on oil (yet) - it's possible it goes even lower from now until ~December - it is bouncing right now I concede, but I don't know how long lived it will be. Europe is going into lockdown, USA is next; Latin America / India is still getting hit hard. The only economy that is doing well is China. I know that OPEC just told the bears to eat shit, but we're going into winter & you can't beat the overall market forces; with that said, if you plan on holding for >1 year you're going to be completely fine getting into oil now compared to a month or two from now (just you might get a slightly better price)

My reasoning is similar to AAPL and TSLA pumps immediately after those split. I think the (relatively) high cost of those stocks prior to split kept the barrier of entry high enough that not a lot of wsb retards could spend mommy's money on a single stock, but after the split, they could. It's literally the meme of the glass of water in the taller but narrower cup, but I'd expect at least a 20% rise in total value for ~3-4 days following a split just because people will be excited to own an AMZN share.
Again, it's stupid as fuck, but memestrength runs the market.

Reminder that if you want to become good traders (probably also applies to investors), you should 100% be tracking every trade you take in a spreadsheet or similar so you can draw statistics from it. This will tell you things like: are you more profitable on some months than others? What about day of the week? Maybe you're tired by wednesday and your performance dwindles, while you're super good on monday and tuesday. Maybe you're better at trading some setups than others. What is bottlenecking you, your winrate, or your win amount? And much more. All kinds of information you can use to very quickly level up.
Pivot tables and pivot charts are your friends.

There are a million sources I could link you showing that he is leading in the polls, but as we saw in 2016, the polls can be wrong
Right now, every 'indicator' is pointing to Biden wins Florida
In my own personal rationalization, I think it's because the coronavirus affects the elderly more than it does any other age group
Again, anything could happen between now & the election, and all the polls could be wrong
I also concede there is a difference between polling & actually voting - there's a reason why Republicans succeed on rainy days (they're the ones who will actually go out in the rain and vote)
[coronavirus being the rain here]

I put some dummy data to show what it looks like.
> ("I always do my best plays at 9:45 on Fridays, so I better exclusively trade from 9-10 on Friday!)
Because you're tracking actual results, as long as you have a statistically significant sample, making these kinds of choices are GOOD things and are NOT superstition (the data doesn't lie!). That's literally EXACTLY what you want to be doing. Well, either that or figuring out why you have such trouble the rest of the time. Maybe you have coffee only on Friday and that's why you're doing better then. Having this kind of knowledge, you could then take pics of the trades you take and annotate with entry/stop/exit and reasoning and why it worked/didn't work at 9:45 on fridays vs any other time. Emotions are another important point. You want to really drill down into any kinks you might have OR avoid times/places/whatever where you're really not doing good.
For example, maybe as the day progresses you become increasingly tired and make poorer trades. Solution? Stop trading at ~11:30.
That's perfectly fine. Maybe you will have to finetune your strategy to accommodate that: maybe you'll set your take profit and walk away at the beginning of the day instead of micromanaging.
That's OK. The goal is to make money, nothing else (amount of trades, winrate in absolute terms, etc.) matters.

It may not dip until earnings either. TSM has earnings soon and a great entry has passed and will probably not go that low again.

Oh yeah it's coming all right, the labor force will continue decreasing because let's face it.. Corona proved that a country can survive just well with pretty high unemployment rates because there's so many useless people around, so providing the unemployed useless people with free money to CONSUME is a good idea. They need to pass laws that ensures that they spend it though, which South korea did with their experiment, simply because neets can't be trusted

I wouldn't buy it at the current time but it's definitely worth watching. I don't like thee fact it pulled back to 100% (this often indicates a reversal) but I bet you can get some good returns on a coming leg up. It might form a massive M-top though.

You can use realized losses up to 3000 to offset any tax on gains. So say you make 30,000 in realized gains. Your taxed on just 27,000 of it. Where you are on the tax bracket also helps. Married, the limits double. Ex: Your in the 12% bracket. You make 40k. Wife makes 30k. Limit total combined is 80k. Yours is 70K. So a 10K difference. That 10k difference is your wiggle room. Now if both of you are pulling 40k then your at the limit already so anything over would bump you into the next bracket. The rub. Your married, you work. Wife don't. Still 80k limit. You pull 60k. 20k wiggle room.

Last year would you have thought that companies would move to work from home permanently in 12 months? People would flee the cities for suburban and rural homes? E-commerce and technology would have another boom not from speculation but by keeping the world moving? Crisis can cause decades of transition to happen in a matter of months, and I'm sure a currency crisis would not be difficult to manufacture to speed up the process. Bitcoin is the alpha test, CBDC would be the beta test. I speculate but it's not an unfathomable path for the world to take.

coomstop doesnt even have to do anything fantastic, just getting to barely positive cash flow is all it seriously needs, and that's become easier with microsoft basically guaranteeing its survival (what Hasbro wished it did for Toys R Us that went bankrupt)
positive cash flow = resume dividends, more share buybacks = short sellers start covering over time like OSTK

my plan was to cash out COMPLETELY by November but I'm going to have to change my plans and only trimming my position (maybe a quarter at $20 so i almost cover my cost basis entirely), let this ride for free until short interest drops to 20 or 30% (that's my sell signal unless COOMSTOP becomes a tech stock at that point KEK)

COOMSTOP doesn't have to try, microsoft already gave them exclusive deals with the xbox x and game pass
now we just have to hope this translates to bigger xbox x allocations for COOMSTOP

that said my hopes is more on sony feeling threatened enough to help out COOMSTOP as well with Xbox threatening to have more exposure in brick and mortar

I think Nintendo understands how COOMSTOP is important to them especially with Reggie on board (seems to have helped them have more nintendo switches allocated to them), but Sony is the bigger player with consoles, and Nintendo is overall a net negative for gamestop now that they combined their console and handheld into one
Gamestop to these companies is basically what Toys R Us was to toymakers

I agree sony has a much larger market share of the consoles so they could be more creative to get back at microsoft or maybe they dont even give a shit? I was mentioning gamefly for the explanation that even EA couldnt pull off 100% digital gaming because no one fucking wanted it/technology expansion is no where close enough to get rid of physical. GAMERSOFT could make some big dick plays like steam/gamefly competitors and instantly have more recognition and advertising budgets

dude allowing china to gain mass intel on US citizens is objectively worse than domestic spying by alphabet agencies.

No, it's too early for that to happen. It could just be resting to get into another downtrend (It's what the volume suggests). When you see 2 new higher highs and higher lows, you are officially at the start of an uptrend and it's buyable, but not before.

Dude, the only reason taxes even exist in the US now is to make sure employers pay their employees in USD.

And now since employers/employees have one constant outstanding liability always denominated/payable in USD, there's a reason to still rely on the non-gold-backed, non-petrodollar, entirely-fiat-and-otherwise-useless Dollar.

Uncle sammy doesn't need your money, he needs you to have to pay something in USD.

Also since you clearly know nothing about mineral resource exploration, where did you get the idea that a permitting process starts as soon as a mine is discovered? Does it occur to you that perhaps they’d want to drill for a while to see what they’re getting into? Also the property on which pebble is located was not acquired by $NAK until 2001. Play tech stocks cause you obviously haven’t the faintest idea how minerals companies function.
