mhh, interesting. I've never thought about that. Up until the middle of this year I thought XRP as an shitcoin. Then Corona happened and I've started to dive deeper on several topics, one of which was banking. I was really into LINK after reading up on smartcontracts. Then I had a closer look at XRP and bought 10k. Funnily enough it's my most "stable" coin and I'm not even mad as my other two coins (LIT and CUR) are rather volatile. I chose those three coins because behind of all of them there is a company and a real use case.
I'm not sure if anybody is payed for these threads, I've created two XSGs so far. The market cap of XRP is so big I'm not sure that a few guys on some imageboard are a valuable target group.
I love these threads because I'm a spiritual person and after 42 left the /xsg/ threads kind of filled the void.

The Gateway scientific paper was very interesting, Raitlin's Challenge is definitely something I'll do with more focus next year (only solved 3 riddles since it was posted yesterday). My investments started in RE where I saw first hand how faux-fiat distorted prices. That’s not to say I didn’t pimp fiat as hard as I could (I did and still do) but became acutely aware of how much it fucked over the pricing metrics of the RE market. I’m not really a market guy but note PE ratios for equities are fucked just as cap rates (think PE ratios in the RE world) are and the reason for this is debt. Debt allows people to overpay for what the asset is really worth. People love this as everyone feels richer but in reality it makes us all poorer. Pernicious.

The catch is if you pop the debt fiat bubble in an up orderly manner you’ll open a Pandora’s box of shit - but at the same time - if you don’t pop the fiat debt bubble you’ll still be opening a Pandora’s box of shit. This leads me to believe the only real alternative is to pop the bubble in an orderly way where we can have prices correct back to fair value but leave the panic induced trauma of a disorderly correction to the side.

Imagine you’re in a plane about to crash. There’s nothing that can be done to stop the crash BUT once the plane crashes there’s a small window for everyone to escape the burning wreckage *IF* they remain calm. If cool heads remain then everyone can get out via the emergency exits but if not you’ll have a panic.

If they do intend to launch a metal backed UST with a UST-to-metal ratio, and assuming it will be possible for “approved” entities (US citizens, allies, etc.) to transition their USD asset liquidity (not their USD denominated debt) to UST, while at the same time printing the USD to infinity to settle up any USD debt, you’d have an effective debt jubilee.

In essence the value of liquid assets would be pulled into the new system but the value of the debt would be left in the old.
