Explain to me why this wouldn't work, other than just being dumb or whatever:

Deposit 10,000 dollars into a brokerage account, buy stocks, and take out 10,000 dollars in margin.

Withdraw 10,000 dollars.

Deposit those 10,000 dollars into a different brokerage account, and repeat the process.

???

Profit!

This is how yield farming works. Deposit into Aave. Get loan. Use that to get more loan. Use that to get more. Put entire amount into getting passive earnings. 70% annual ROI (before gas costs ofc)

You're not going to withdraw the same amount.

I was talking about traditional brokerages.

But also, what? That seems too good to be true.

Why not? If the margin requirement is 50%, that means you can purchase 20,000 dollars of stock with a 10,000 dollar deposit, right?

Yeah because you're a midwit at best

Lol.

You will get liquidated as soon as you do that

Collateral is needed if you want to trade on margin right? If you deposit 10k and then buy 10k of stock, you can only take out x amount in margin up to whatever amount your broker is willing to do. For you to withdraw money means you have to pay them back for any margin used whether immediately or on an installment plan. To get approved for higher margin, you have to show income documentation or statements confirming asset worth that can cover the cost

I've literally never heard of an installment plan for margin. Is that a thing?

I can tell you that if you apply for a loan you get your credit pulled guaranteed. If you use that as collateral to get another loan, you’re even higher risk nowadays they will be able to see the new loan you applied for when your credit is pulled again if it’s with a different lender. The only other way to interpret this is to take out loan to make income that will allow you to take out another loan so “essentially” your loan is paying for your other loan, but I don’t believe this was meant by Anon

Yes, it’s a margin loan so someone like Fidelity will either give you a schedule that will force you to pay it back by selling securities or depositing cash or your acc will be liquidated and you’ll be reported to IRS as well as collections

>> No.23136177

Margin balance at most brokers has like 18% interest fee.

It's not like a credit card where you can just max it out and ghost. Think of using margin as like you can only use your visa card inside of VISA corporate headquarters. As soon as you charge it you are not allowed to leave the building and security will stop you until you pay back any debt.
