Imagine that your mom/sister owns a bar of gold
Now imagine that someone somewhere tells you that the price of gold is expected to fall sometime in the next 3 weeks.
You realize that there is an opportunity to make money here if you simply borrow the gold from your mom and promise to return it in a few weeks. All you have to do is to sell it at it's current price, and then buy it back a few weeks later at its expected lower price, that way you get to keep a profit (difference between the sale price and the repurchase price) and your mom gets her gold back

However, a week passes by and distressingly, the price of gold begins rising for some reason. If the price of gold rises any higher than the price at which you sold the bar, you'll be in the red since you'll have to buy it at a higher price in order to return it to your mom. You then calm yourself down and simply decide to wait another 2 weeks for the expected fall in price.

The problem is that you're not the only idiot in town who decided to make the same play: It turns out that there a whole bunch of dumbfucks all over the place who also borrowed gold and sold it expecting it to drop in value, and a few of them get spooked by the price increase and immediately rush to buy back their gold, with each of them bidding higher than the previous guy in order to buy back their gold as fast as possible, just so that they can protect themselves from an EVEN HIGHER price. This has the nasty effect of pushing the price higher and higher and higher, and for you, it means that you'll have to rush to buy a bar of gold before the price goes any higher as you're no longer comfortable waiting for it to go down, ironically driving the price even higher.

Now replace the gold with company stock, (and the mom with a broker/lender) and you have what is known as a short squeeze.

That's not how options work. Look at 'price paid' and 'quantity'. He paid a grand total of 140k including 40k in shares and 100k in options. This is his absolute maximum loss. You could have put $1.4k in total for the same setup and came out with about $20k, not a bad haul. Not to mention GME could go to 20+ and the relative leverage of calls increases exponentially with distance to strike.

TA showed either a test and failure, or an accumulation. You know the difference after all the signs are present:
- uptrend
- make a relatively equal high
- fail to make a new high on the next bounce
- break the trend
- (optional) large volume on the bounce
You trade this by entering after the trend has fully reversed, which requires at least 2 lower highs and 2 lower lows (you enter at the top of the candle that forms the 2nd low at the earliest, while being mindful of more information).
Here, the retest did not end in failure: this was actually accumulation and breakout. If you don't wait for ALL the signs, you end up fucking up. It's about probabilities. 25% chance to win early, but 50% chance to win if all the signs are there.
