Lived in this shithole for roughly a year and hate everything about the place but kinda keen on moving back (based and working remotely in a northern European country that starts with S and ends with N) because I miss the pulse of the city. I'd earn roughly the same amount as I do now though (~£120k).

Is it worth it? Anyone else here who lives/lived in London and moved back? Is this just a severe case of Stockholm syndrome?

I moved out but not too far. I hate the place. It doesn’t have as much to offer anymore and it just eats through all your money. I’d rather have saved cash than Chuck it all away on living in a city that’s unusable at the moment or ever

I find it so fucking hilarous that you moved from a mudslime shithole to another mudslime shithole that's pretty much the center of mudslimes, and now you want to move back to the other mudslimes

I visited London regularly (or did before covid). Would never want to live there. Good night life - if you go to a ticketed event, forget bar hopping - you'll never get served

>hampstead, nottingham and chelsea used to be posh; now all the slow movers who didn't move out are terrified that jimmy from the block is gonna put a brick through their window
>camden used to be trendy and cosmopolitan in the utopian sense; now it's basically a third world market town
>soho always was a 'progressive' area; now, nobody even visits the theater and as well as batty boys you have homeless beggars with card machines and chavs waiting in alleyways to mug unsuspecting drunks
>oxford street used to be lined with unique and compelling storefronts; now it's just x brands flagship store and tons of weird shops that look like mistakes
>the square mile used to be livelier and had a more unique culture; now, everyone is a sullen corpocuck
>brixton and peckham used to be microcosms of black west indian culture and everyone had high hopes it would generate a mini renaissance in the arts; now, they are basically no-go zones, along with many other areas across our fair city
>shoreditch and hackney used to be shitholes but based white idealists (hipsters) somewhat successfully gentrified them
>people actually used to be polite, dress better and carry themselves with more pride; now everyone is hostile and looks like they could snap in a second

I've heard this from many friends who I knew in London, some of which are older.

I used to live in Mayfair (which is now full of rich Arabs and other undesirables) and it feels like St. James (just south of Mayfair) is the last part of London that really feels like the London of yesteryear (and some of my older friends think so too). Small boutique shops, an aura of politeness and just a very comfy feel.

What exactly happened to London and was it really much better in the past?

DUDE i just LOVE the hustle and bustle of the big city, it’s so DYNAMIC and makes me feel like i’m in one of my favourite TV SHOWS. you should totally come on down to my studio apartment, it’s got EXPOSED RED BRICK walls and everything, we can crack open a nice hoppy ipa or three and get crazy watching some cartoons on adult swim! and dude, dude, DUDE, we have GOTTA go down to the barcade- listen here, right, it’s a BAR where us ADULTS who do ADULTING can go DRINK. BUT!!!! it’s also an ARCADE like when we were kids, so we can play awesome VIDEO GAMES, without dumb kids bothering us. speaking of which megan and i have finally decided to tie the knot- literally -we’re both getting snipped tomorrow at the hospital, that way we can save money to spent more on ourselves and our FURBABIES. i’m fuckin JACKED man, i’m gonna SLAM this craft beer and pop open another one!!!

So fucking true, lived in both for work, London is just a rainy shithole and NYC smells like piss everywhere and is an even bigger shithole. Currently residing on my own patch of land with an orchard and family. Comfy as a human should be.

I could never live in London, I love going for a weekend though, I have friends who live there and stay with them. I cant imagine getting the tube everyday, paying huge rents and £5.50 pints, the multiculturalism day in and out.

What you miss, that you described as its pulse, is the lure of evil
London is the most evil place in the world
