I'm surprised there hasn't been that much mention of mona lately.
It almost broke 30,000 satoshi a day ago.

What's the more likely scenario? A handful of coins, say BTC, LTC, DOGE and maybe VTC become very valuable while all others fail, or every shitcoin like PANDA, PND, and PAND (gee, that's not confusing at all and I'm sure Amazon et al will love to deal with tracing down misdirected transactions ten thousand times a day) suddenly becomes not shit as people scamper to buy them and retailers spend money setting up the backend to accept 20000 different Scrypt coins? Which is the more likely outcome that the community should dedicate its effort towards?

you're forgetting how doge is falling in value, doge was only ever popular as it was easy to exploit on the market to make a large influx of value to pay off, and this was working out until the inevitable when it became too hard to mine, which made people lose interest.

No, it absolutely doesn't. DOGE had mainstream coverage within ten days after its release and was immediately seen as something worthwhile with a community that was the opposite of the libertardian douchefest that is BTC's. PND was just something designed to ruin wolong and the world regards it as such.

>Don't expect to make a RoR if the pricing is at $10k. Even if the price of LTC goes up to $40 again, you'd need to mine 250 LTC. With more competition and higher difficulty, you're looking at 20 LTC per day (optimal) down to about 2 LTC per day. The only ones that benefit from ASIC mining are the early adopters, and those that normally order ASIC mining rigs usually end up receiving it after a couple months, or not at all, and by that time, you're too late and mining at .2 LTC per day.

>Remember, the people making money off of mining gold weren't the miners, but the ones selling the equipment. We also saw this for Bitcoins.

>Might as well invest the 10K for four GPU mining rigs where you have the ability to adapt to a better altcoin in the future, and earlier where the difficulty is really low (thus you can mine thousands of coins early and just hold them for later to sell when the market for the coin reaches where LTC or even BTC is now). Digital crytocurrency will go through multiple evolutionary cycles before the coin of all coins comes about.

The halving seems to have gone by PND without a soul noticing.

Many people have left because they're getting less.

I don't know if the coin will ever increase in value, but at this point, the people that are still mining are likely to have the biggest bags.

If it ever got back to 10 satoshi again - and it might - they could potentially have a lot of money.

I remember laughing at my 26k devcoin a few years ago thinking it was worthless. So worthless that I held it. Year or two go by, someone pumps it.

Again, I'm not saying that'll happen to PND. But it would be crazy if it did.

Do you really believe that scrypt asics will lead to the same level of a hardware race/exponential growth we saw with sha2 asics though? The limiting factor that makes scrypt asic resistant is that its memory intensive, so doesn't it stand to reason that it will take manufacturers longer to develop faster memory/fit the larger amounts onto the asics in the first place?

I'm not disputing that there is demand, what im saying is that I'm skeptical that they will be able to improve the actual hashing power at the same rate that sha-2 asics did once they began. My layman's understanding is that we could have seen scrypt asics years ago if not for the memory requirements the coins have; obviously asic manufacturers have figured out how to setup more cost effective memory for the asics than GPU, but won't this still be a slowing factor for the development of new asics?

Certainly the network hashrate will continually increase from more miners buying the asics and raising the network hashrate, but even without asics we would still have more people entering the scrypt-mining scene with GPU miners.

I'm adopting a wait and see approach with the new scrypt asics; I'd like to get 10 gridseeds because I have a 25% code for zoomhash but still strongly debating given the long ROI. I've also considered building a rig to mine vert but I'm inclined to believe that I'm better off just buying VTC now since power is so pricey.

I think in a best case scenario we could see scrypt asics actually have a respectable ROI if it turns out they are in fact much slower to develop/exponentially increase hashing power and simultaneously see a contraction in the alt-coin market that kills off some of the shitcoins.

As you said though only time will tell.
