there's just been multiple huge market drops, US election uncertainty, now bitmex drop, Trump covid drop. The defi fomo has tapered off and the price drops have shaken out some of the garbage projects and revealed the landscape a little for the coming layer 2 options and general trends of crypto development. Link is one of the most certain projects left to buy and not have to worry about constantly monitoring the info feed. Nobody ever knows what prices will do but it definitely looks as good a time as any to start buying in. It was already on the way back up before bitmex/covid so you get another chance at slightly lower levels. If arbitrum or optimism actually starts to release with link either first or one of the first it will only be up from there. Or if there's news about CBDC or other real world entities running nodes, etc etc

And to answer your question, if you're going all in on 5.50, you're saying you're absolutely certain it will go down to that price. Realistically, it might not go down that far, but who knows. So it's best to buy on the way down with an order that low just in case it does.
