What the fuck, the delusion!
If you aren’t regulated you will be shut down.
If you aren’t a registered security you will be shut down.
BTC and ETH will survive. 98% of the rest won’t.
What a time to be alive.

read the first paragraph OP didn't put in a red box. (washington d.c.- in bold print) that paragraph is more comprehensive.
follow read this from the provided link
>Case Background

>The complaint alleges that from at least November 2014 through the present, and at the direction of Hayes, Delo, and Reed, BitMEX has illegally offered leveraged retail commodity transactions, futures, options, and swaps on cryptocurrencies including bitcoin, ether, and litecoin, allowing traders to use leverage of up to 100 to 1 when entering into transactions on its platform. According to the complaint, BitMEX has facilitated cryptocurrency derivatives transactions with an aggregate notional value of trillions of dollars, and has earned fees of more than over $1 billion since beginning operations in 2014. Yet, as alleged in the complaint, BitMEX has failed to implement the most basic compliance procedures required of financial institutions that impact U.S. markets.

basically, the US is trying to constrict trading of digital assets and make the rapid volatility of BTC less drastic by going after BITMEX for alleged market manipulation. I personally think it's a good thing because market manipulators would always flash dump to make stop losses get triggered right before they pump the coin 30 minutes to just fuck it up. All together this means USA is slightly implying BTC is legit, but we've known that since 2017

no probably not. Tether is a tool, it is not the manipulation. it took me a second to understand what it is that you were referring to.
(similiar to "guns don't kill people, people kill people" except it's "tether isn't manipulating the market, market manipulators are taking advantage of tether to manipulate the market"

Yes yes we know paper isnt real and qe and infinite printing makes it even less real but that's not the point. The dollar is still the world's reserve and its the reason why every single stable coin including tether is pegged and supposedly backed by it. Only those who control the tether treasury benefit from infinite magic tether to prop up the prices when they need to.

thank you. i did some googling and found out ifinex created tether and ifinex owns bitfinex. I'm unsure if the entire project of tether will be thrown away however as I'm pretty sure a lot of people like it

>> No.22965357

Who is the US to regulate an entire Industry though?...
At the same time, I think it's imperative that people like us, who are just trying to provide for ourselves and our family, are left out of the whole criminal racket investigatory situation.

I'm not ever going to consider scheming to do some huge illegal shit, like laundering money through crypto after doing a huge drug exchange for cash or some shit. I just want to make money in this emerging and promising sector and live a humble life with my earnings.
The assholes that abuse this system deserve to see consequences, but it feels like people in situations like mine are targeted all too often.
Hopefully the faggot feds actually get the right guys and leave us the fuck alone.

Tether could lose all backing and we'd just trade it because of the mass social contract that USDT has an intrinsic value of $1 US until an actual digital dollar joins the space. People have been saying this shit since March 2017 and exactly nothing has happened. Tether bears have been growing their stacks for free on a near weekly basis for over 100 weeks.
