Should I become an Accountant or learn a Trade like Electrician or HVAC? Some people tell me accounting is a great financial career but I don't know enough to judge.

I'm kinda bad at math beyond algebra or geometry, but I'm pretty good with stats and probability. I'm personable and a competent writer as well.

Accounting major reporting in.

There's going to be accounting you like, and accounting you fucking hate. You don't get to pick and choose. If you stick with it, it's a great career.

If you consider yourself mechanically inclined, go HVAC. HVAC tech here, it's basically the best trade imo because it is the most well rounded, and if you're entering the tradie field not really knowing what the fuck you want to do, HVAC can help you narrow your focus. HVAC techs have to learn a little plumbing, a little framing, more complex electrical circuits than the average electricians have to ever know, and of course heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems which basically give you the skills to work absolutely anywhere in the country. Depending on how spergy the licensing agencies for your area are, aka how many licenses you have to actually have to legally perform work in your region, it can be one of the highest paying trades with the widest opportunities to side step into different niches that you want. For example, there's residential service (joe boomer's AC isn't working, go fix it), refrigeration (think service for restaurant grocery store walkin freezers), controls (programming office buildings' HVAC equipment to work properly), and more.

I can't speak to accounting. Sounds like it'd be handy for knowing how to perform tax evasion without getting caught.

The only reason this is an issue is because of the rootless internationals and Lolberts screaming "FREE TRADE!" every time anyone, whether it's Trump or anyone else puts protective measures in place.
Prior to WW1, the only reason Germany became competitive against England industrially was because of Tariffs on foreign goods, and yes this did come with German workers getting paid good wages.
