Funny I bought one yesterday. I wasn't sure if I wanted the black or the clear one. I decided to pick the black one because it looked more like a usb key.

I did not want to cash out in 2018. It was a mistake. I am sorry that I just now decided to get one.

>> No.22860699

I've had a hardware wallet since the Christmas of 2018 and realized immediately after I got it that hardware wallets are a meme when you can just write down multiple meta mask seed phrases in heavy pen and laminate the paper

Good idea, the clear one looks great though had to buy it

>> No.22860744

Am newfag pls help. If i want to trade shit from metamask but i wanna be secure about it, do you guys use the ledger and it connects to metamask and you send it that way? If so do you need to spend gas sending it from ledger to metamask?

Still vulnerable to a keylogger whenever you have to enter that password. You don't have to enter a password from your computer on a hardware wallet.

>> No.22860846

>>22860744
You send to the ledger like you would any other wallet. It doesn't need to be connected to receive funds after it's all set up. It would cost gas like any other transaction.

Looking forward to seeing you crying on here when your metamask wallet is hacked. Still, think of the $50 saving you made

Should've bought the most generic looking black whatever chink USB color Ledger and scraped of the Ledger logo with sandpaper.

>> No.22861199

so at all the "organic" hardware wallet posts being made this week. Nigga just get an old phone you don't use anymore from your closet, factory reset that shit, and generate a wallet with it. Turn the phone off unless you're making transactions and literally use the phone for nothing else.

You can use the ledger with metamask safely, and it only costs gas to send from the ledger to uniswap or whatever dapp you interact with.

You'll have to confirm transactions on your ledger though, since the private keys never leave the ledger and metamask only sees the public balance without being able to withdraw anything unless you approve on the ledger

dont bother with ledgers, only as safe as the paper you keep the seed on. (or less infact)

>wrench attack
>hardware stolen attack
>paranoria when updating firmware

ALL this can be solved by a smart contract vault

If you want to use a dapp then you have to use metamask and to do that you have to insert your seed on a computer.

It doesn't matter if your holder phone is secure, as long as the seed has to be typed on a potentially compromised computer d'uh

With a hardware wallet you can interact with any dapp even on a virused computer, since the private keys and seed never leave the wallet.

Your idea of using a spare phone is ok-ish for trading wallets where you don't keep a lot of money, and also if you have a spare laptop that is only used for trading.
